Position Title: Chemist I

Supervisor Title: Manager

Department/Location: Face Pre Development/111 T

I. MAJOR FUNCTION

Join the Pre-Development team to develop innovative and disruptive make-up products with proven consumer perceivable benefits. Ready to gain knowledge and experience in film formers and other innovative technologies in order to create disruptive face products.

Work in a team-oriented environment to identify new technologies with potential benefits and translate the technology into cosmetic products. Interact with various groups within R&I for new product development, product concept testing, and to ensure a smooth transition of new products and technology to the development team. Work with consumers to understand their needs to ensure the creation of a consumer centric product.

II. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

·  Develop innovative cosmetic products by utilizing new technology to fully explore the potential benefits and disrupt the market.
·  Work closely with the cross-functional team to identify new raw materials and new technologies to help build a consumer centric strategy in order to create a product that answers consumers’ needs.
·  Utilize not just technical thinking but, creative thinking of ways to understand how to formulate based on what is heard from the consumer.
·  Work closely with cross-functional labs to ensure a smooth transition of new products and technologies to the development team.
·  Communicate and present the technology and new products to Marketing and different categories within the company.
·  Develop good knowledge of the competitive environment and maintain a close awareness of consumer need gaps and marketing trends.
·  Communicate development challenges to management on a timely basis while showing creativity and resourcefulness to offer alternative solutions.

III. JOB REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related. Master’s degree preferred

Excellent knowledge of structure and property relationships is desirable

Preferably with a minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in the cosmetic and personal care industry.

Be able to work under pressure and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to identify and verbalize various cosmetic product sensorial attributes

Creative and self-motivated. Be able to think out of the box and willing to take an extra step to get the job done.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Knowledge of Pigments and Shade Matching a Plus.

Foreign language skills such as French is a plus.

Authorization to work long term in the U.S. required.
