Job description

POSITION PURPOSE

Develop and provide the L’Oreal divisions with innovative packaging solutions from concepts developed in-house or co-developed with our suppliers and inventors; Deliver on building strong and dynamic partnership with external packaging innovation sources (suppliers, design schools, other industries) envisions and develops new packaging designs to help the Group's innovation portfolio

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

·  Manage complex projects with cutting edge technologies and components in a simple creative way
·  Perform research and bring new technologies to drive packaging projects forward
·  Develop consumer centric ideas leveraging iterative designs and prototyping technologies like all forms of 3D printing
·  Test prototypes technically and with consumers while also studying their feasibility to bring them to production and to market
·  Create innovative packaging concepts and lead creative innovation packaging team in collaboration with Research and Innovation, Operations and Marketing teams to respond to consumer needs within the Americas
·  Evaluate technical and financial feasibility of new packaging innovations in collaboration with Operations teams
·  Ensure freedom of use for completed concepts and protects inventions by patents
·  Develops and implements fresh solutions: models, test molds, prototypes; evaluates and assesses the performance of new concepts and provides technical pre-assessment (specification, compatibility, production, tests)
·  Lead project management with Operations stakeholders to align innovation conception, project coordination, risk assessment, time to market, and cost of goods

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

·  Engineering degree or a degree in a similar discipline
·  Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience
·  Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks), Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, and MS Office Suite including MS Project
·  Plastic materials, polymers, engineering and chemistry understanding
·  Industrial design background & CAD skills
·  Ability to work in multifunctional teams, with formulator, marketers and more
·  Ability to translate ideas into conception
·  Keen interests on technologies and ergonomic designs that impact daily lives
·  Good communication skills, to be able to deal effectively with all levels of the organization and our suppliers
·  Good organizational skills to manage documentation, materials and information
·  Ability to travel domestically to supplier base as well as to international suppliers and Affiliate offices – travel 10-20%
