IT Hardware Support Specialist

Dubai
This is a unique and challenging opportunity to join one of the world's leading Logistics companies. Due to continued success in the region, we are looking for IT Hardware Support Specialist to contribute to one of our key projects in the UAE. This position is offered on a single status basis and the benefits include a tax-free salary with allowances for accommodation and transport, annual flight ticket, discretionary bonus and a comprehensive international medical insurance.

Job description

The IT Hardware Support Specialist is a critical role in the organization and in principle is responsible for the implementation and operation of local IT infrastructure systems and equipment. He/she supports medium sized projects, or act as project manager of small projects focused on infrastructure and IT assets.

Your tasks and responsibilities

·  Diagnose hardware/software faults and solve problems for end users
·  Co-operate with National IT Team, and manage user accounts in various systems
·  To perform daily routine work including but not limited to maintenance of PCs, office automation devices, server room, conference facilities, etc.
·  To contact vendors / 3rd party on-call service partner, ensure service being delivered as expected
·  To manage IT assets (hardware & software) pro-actively & systematically
·  Support of Microsoft products such as Office (various versions)
·  Support of hardware and software for Dell / Lenovo devices and applications from Servers, Desktops, and Laptops
·  End-user and product support for printers and photocopiers
·  OS Support – Microsoft Windows Vista,7,8
·  OS Server Support – Microsoft 2008 R2, 2012 R2
·  Experience of SQL Server and Exchange Server 2012
·  Be the first point of contact for staff on collection of new hardware and replacement hardware from the Site
·  Manage and set up new hardware following IT policies and procedures
·  Develop programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the IT assets
·  Develop programs for optimization of current operations/assets
·  Make recommendations to Operations Manager on programs to improve operations
·  Makes realistic commitments to customers together with the line manager
·  Adhere to Kuehne + Nagel's Quality, Safety, Health and Environment Program policies and procedures

Your skills and experience

·  The ideal candidate has a college degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems
·  Prior experience of at least 3 years in a similar role is mandatory
·  Advanced knowledge of networking, servers and storage systems
·  Advanced skills in MS office tools, SQL Server and Exchange Server 2012
·  Advanced knowledge of Microsoft and Linux Servers
·  Experience in the delivery of change and continuous improvement programmes
·  Strong command of the English language (both written and spoken) is essential for this role
·  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with problem-solving skills
