Lead contact for K+N in relation to Safety, Health and Security Regulations.

YOUR ROLE

Health, Safety & Security Manager

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Take full responsibility for ensuring that QSHE Team provides leading edge advice and solution implementation deliverables generally and specifically in the following areas:

·  Provision of advice and practical support to K+N sites on SSH matters and specifically OHSAS 18001 requirements.
·  Setting and managing program of site visits and continual improvements.
·  Ensuring new locations are set up in accordance with K+N SSH requirements and standards.
·  Managing program of audits in line with K+N standards and OHSAS 18001.
·  Setting annual objectives and targets for K+N sites and monitoring in line with company standards.
·  Provide relevant training to K+N employees and if necessary to subcontractors to increase SSH awareness.
·  Managing Incidents and Accidents Management System ensuring that incidents and accidents are minimized, reported and effective actions implemented.
·  Ensuring HSE KPI's are collected from all sites and reported to regional QSHE responsible in a timely fashion and
according to company procedures Specific duties include but are not limited to:
·  a) Carry out risk assessments; planning and following corrective and preventative activities according to risk assessment outcome.
·  b) Carry out audits and inspections; to complete site visit reports promptly and submit to the appropriate persons together with recommended actions.
·  c) Report non-compliance to local manager (BM, FW, etc.) and significant non-compliance to National Management (NM, NQ).
·  d) Organising/providing necessary occupational SSH related training in line with local regulations, deliver standard training packages.
·  e) Monitoring incidents and industrial injury claims, driving down their frequency and quantum; planning and controlling related preventive actions against re-occurrence.
·  f) Supervise major occupational work incident investigations.
·  g) Participate at Occupational Safety and Health Committee meetings.
·  h) Inform national management of changes to and new legislation related to QSHE.
·  i) Liaise with local enforcement bodies and support Local Management during enforcement visits.
·  j) Providing guidance on planning necessary periodic maintenance, tests and measurement activities and controlling these activities.
·  k) Guidance and consultancy about workplace machinery and equipment selection and design, testing and maintenance activities, selection of related protective equipment.
·  l) Preparing emergency plans (natural disaster, fire, explosions, etc.), organizing related trainings and drills in line with national regulations.
·  m) Conducting periodic review of QSHE policies, working instructions, manuals relating to SSH and make recommendations for improvement.
·  n) Preparing annual SSH system evaluation reports
·  o) Identifying good practices and communicating them to related management.
·  p) Assist customer transition and integration team on new premises and businesses.
·  Performing QAT audits - Completing Annual internal Audit with QAT Checklist as per Annual Audit Plan for locations mutually agreed by Jnb NQ (Quality, Safety, Health, Environment and Security) ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 and ISO 28001.
·  KN Secure Chain auditor and ensure all Global Security training material are Nationalised, and training provided to Transporters (Top 5 transporters).
·  DG Advisor, roll out of Global DG requirements - Training and implementation of P99 dangerous goods Guidelines & Annexures. Assist business units in getting required certification and requirements in place to ensure they are a DG approved location.
·  Perishable Cargo (HACCP) – Ensure new facilities have all requirements in place to be certified.
·  Overland Pharma – Started training to ensure knowledgeable regarding Pharma Handling COID cases, ensure put into system - Train up at least 2 additional staff on how to input data and use the department of labour website to log injury on work incidents and accidents.
·  Ensure all requirements for RFI/RFQ related to QSHE are provided to BU's, as and when required - New clients
·  Partake in Client audits – Clients auditing K+N.
·  Launch all new SSH projects based on Regional requirements (SWAP, RAM, “No Harm”)
·  Client visits and ensure all SSH are in relation to client requirements
·  Drawing up of Training material required for Toolbox purposes.
·  Assist all regional offices in relation to SSH (Namibia, Mauritius)
·  Part of Global QUEST Team – Security Expert Team.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES

·  A diploma in Health and Safety, or related field is essential.
·  Professional affiliation/certification will be a distinct advantage.
·  Minimum 5 year experience in an Heath Safety (QSHE) environment
·  Minimum 5 years working experience in Freight Forwarding will be a distinct advantage.
·  Minimum of 2 - 5 years project management, leadership and international experience is required.
·  Experience in setting-up or re-positioning the QSHE function advantageous.
·  Knowledge of local market, requirements, laws and regulations is essential i.e. LRA, EE, HSE etc.
·  Ability to build a trust relationship across all levels of the organization.
·  Knowledge of ISO9001/2015, ISO 14001 and ISO18001is essential.
·  Ability to deal with conflicting requests and opinions from different stakeholders.
·  Ability to communicate positively and credibly to all audience with a good command of English and other languages will be preferred.
·  Willingness to travel internationally and locally.
