Job description

Supervise the new import gateway team in LAX controlling the proper handling of our import gateway operations and taking care of the relationship with airline terminals and trucking companies.

Your tasks and responsibilities

To grow the Air Import Product working with both KN Overseas offices, and with respective regional satellite stations. To support the Regional and National Air Import Product along with all involved satellite stations in your region. To mentor AI Staff in order to display and project KN's core business practices. To also foster positive relationships with Air carriers, their Handling Agents and other transportation service providers. To support the needs of our air import customers through positive relationships with air carriers, truckers, and KN offices globally. To uphold Kuehne + Nagel's code of conduct, policies, and procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Gateway Services:
- Develop effective means of supporting growth of the air import product.
- Lead the gateway team in close support of satellite branch's as well as air import efforts throughout the region.
- Support business process improvement initiatives at gateways and branch offices.
- Plan and operate scheduled trucking services to satellite stations in
your region to achieve best possible transit time's at best possible
rate levels.
- Complete required gateway financial activities timely and accurately. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Performance Measurements:

- Uphold attainment of prescribed company productivity ratios
- Uphold attainment of prescribed gateway key performance indicator measurements:
- Arrived-as-booked and documents turned over as planned
- Work with origins to achieve preferred airline support levels
- CFS handling and timely recovery of cargo
- Have cargo available in timely manner
- Develop, mentor, and train gateway staff in compliance with company training and development requirements.

Airline Relationships:
-Maintain regular and consistent communication and contact with airline
management and sales executives; in conjunction with carrier visits to
AE Gateway Management.
- Build and maintain positive professional
relationships at the local level in support of national and global
relationship management efforts.
- Work closely with respective air carriers and their handling agents.
- Drive accurate and efficient information exchange with airline partners, and their handling agents.

Your skills and experience

Experience and Educational Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
- Demonstrated industry skills including strong product knowledge
- Effective interpersonal skills; demonstrated abilities to listen, comprehend and communicate clear, concise and timely information
- Competency with required personal computer skills including:
- MS Windows
- MS Excel
- MS Word
- MS Outlook
- Excellent written and spoken English language communication skills
- Abilities to deliver / speak to / explain brief presentations
- Financial understanding and competency requisite to position requirements
