We are seeking a highly motivated computational chemist//cheminformatician to join the Computational Chemistry group at Janssen.
The Postdoctoral Scientist will:
· Compare the performances of virtual screening approaches including docking, shape-based similarity searching, and machine learning on large (100M-1B) datasets
· Develop, implement, and deliver methodologies for new virtual screening approaches
· Compile consistent data sets for model training in collaboration with experimental scientists.
· Compare in-house developed models to literature and commercial methods.
· Collaborate with external academic and industrial research partners.
Desired profile
Qualifications
· A Ph. D. in a relevant discipline such as Computational Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Computational Biology, Theoretical Chemistry
· Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g. H1-B status) now or in the future.
· Candidates must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills
· Candidates must have the ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary, global team and possess excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
· Candidates must have experience working in a Linux environment
· Experience with comparable scripting or programming language like Python is preferred
· Experience developing AI/machine learning/QSAR models is preferred
· Experience with docking programs such as GLIDE, GOLD, FRED, etc. is preferred.
· Experience with ligand-based virtual screening technologies such as pharmacophore searching, fingerprint/shape-based similarity searching, etc. is preferred.
