The candidate for this position will contribute to process development for biological production processes (including, for example, Cell Culture antibody processes) within the Bioprocess Development group in Malvern, PA. The candidate's primary responsibilities will include the following:

·  Perform engineering analyses of biological process and equipment data for laboratory-scale, pilot-scale, and commercial-scale manufacturing processes
·  Optimize process performance at each scale, through an understanding of engineering and biological factors that influence process performance and product quality
·  Implement appropriate analyses at each stage of process development, from new product introduction into development to commercial manufacturing, and participate in the integration of these analyses into the departmental procedures that guide routine process development
·  Serve as a participant on process development teams and coach individuals, applying these engineering analyses to assure optimal process performance and process understanding during development, technology transfer, and scale-up
·  Trouble-shoot process issues that arise during development, technology transfer, and scale-up
·  Work in a cross functional team to transfer technology to cGMP manufacturing partners
·  Write technical reports, regulatory documents and memos regarding analyses and investigations
·  Work effectively in a team environment as well as contributing individually to meet project timeline and objectives

Desired profile

Qualifications

·  BS in Chemical, Biochemical, Bioengineering, or Biological Engineering (or equivalent) with at least 4 years of relevant experience in biologicals process analysis OR an MS in Chemical, Biochemical, Bioengineering, or Biological Engineering (or equivalent) with at least 3 years of relevant experience in biologicals process analysis is required
·  Experience in the field of biological product process development and/or biological product manufacturing is required
·  Familiarity with and hands-on experience with typical biological process equipment (e.g. bioreactors, centrifuges, chromatography) at the laboratory, pilot, or manufacturing scale is required
·  Familiarity with the analysis of biological process data is required
·  Familiarity with mathematical modeling approaches (e.g., multivariable analysis), modeling tools (e.g., Matlab), and statistical analysis is preferred
·  Occasional weekend work is required as well, as well as occasional travel to commercial manufacturing sites
