Your day to day

At the moment we're looking for a Captain to join our team at InterContinental Dubai Festival City! The main task of this role is to assign responsibilities, allocate resources and co-ordinate the activities of yourself and others to meet objectives effectively and efficiently. The Captain would have to promote the desired work culture around the five core values of Trust, Integrity, Respect, One Team and Service of the InterContinental Hotels Group and the brand ethos.

Additional key responsibilities are:

-To conduct shift briefings to ensure hotel activities and operational requirements are known in the absence of the manager -To supervise the maintenance of service equipment.

-To endeavour to resolve all complaints during shift and log all complaints in log book for further follow up

-To supervise cash handling and banking procedures

-To prepare daily banking and cash flow reports

-To establish and instruct staff in cash security procedures

-To deal with irregular payments

-To monitor standards of guest facilities and services

-To control stock and monitor security procedures

-To assist with menu and wine list creation

-To supervise functions

-To supervise outlet service

-To demonstrate co-operation and trust with colleagues, supervisors, teams and across departments

-To assign responsibilities, allocate resources and co-ordinate the activities of yourself and others to meet objectives effectively and efficiently

-To be open to new ideas and make changes in the job and routine as required

-To work in line with business requirements in a flexible and optimistic manner

-To complete tasks as directed by Management

What we need from you

Ideally, you'll have some or all of the following competencies and experience we're looking for: -Minimum of 1 year previous experience in F&B -Excellent communication skills -Good command of English -The ability to communicate well to ensure effective shift hand-overs -Decision-making skills so as to establish action plans and schedules for meeting priorities -The ability to diagnose problems and thoroughly analyse information to guide decision making
