Wets Process Engineer

Job description
This position is for an engineer to work at IBM’s Albany, NY research and development fab as Unit Process Engineer with focus on wet cleaning and etching processes for emerging Semiconductor technologies. Engineer will be expected to use your process, tool, and fundamental knowledge, and you will earn recognition for your contribution and expertise.
Responsibilities include:
- developing new processes, improving existing processes and equipment for semiconductor fabrication;
- transferring new technology from research to development to high volume manufacturing;
- ensuring quality controls, procedures, and processes are in place and fully documented;
- working to continuously improve all areas of their processes/tools (including cost, process speed, defect levels, and impact on device performance) and quality controls;
-Generation of Intellectual Property for IBM and protection of it through the patenting process.
The engineer will
-work closely with the process integration team to design, coordinate and execute experiments.
- lead teams that include tool vendors, development, integration, and operations to address process and tool issues.
- advise management and technical teams on project direction.
- direct tool technicians and operators on tool recoveries and daily activities.
The successful engineer will be excited to meet new challenges and exhibit a high-level of interest in understanding and solving complex technical problems. Experience with vendor tool software, process control charts, and process characterization is preferred. Related experience in aqueous chemistry and organic solvents is preferred.
The mission of the IBM Research Semiconductor Group in Albany is leadership and collaboration in semiconductor and memory technology for high-performance computing systems for the cloud and cognitive era. We develop differentiating, leading-edge technology in a 300mm semiconductor fabrication facility with over 100k sq. ft of clean room space in Albany NY. This technology is commercialized through development and manufacturing partnerships.
