Job description

The IBM Cloud Compute Team is hiring Systems Administrators for their Dallas, TX office. (This is a day shift position). This role will support the automation of our customer software provisioning. This is a great opportunity to bring your talent to a growing, thriving organization.

Responsibilities:
● Update, test and support software provisioning systems;
● Quickly and effectively troubleshoot escalated end user issues;
● Take initiative to improve processes, solutions and configurations;
● Take personal ownership of daily tasks and challenges, ensuring resolution with a high degree of quality with minimum direct supervision;
● Manage multiple projects with various priority levels and time lines from start to finish;
● Demonstrate best practices in all aspects of system administration;
● Participate in weekly rotating on-call responsibilities, providing 24/7 coverage;
● Continuously stay abreast of new developments/trends in the support of operating systems to ensure consistent compatibility with established infrastructure.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

● High School diploma or GED equivalent;
● Minimum of 3 years' experience performing system administration in a production environment;
● Minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting system issues;
● Fundamental knowledge in network concepts, familiarity with TCP/IP, and VLAN functionality;
● Foundational knowledge of Apache;
● Experience with Shell Scripting (i.e. Bash).

● Experience with Kickstart, Preseed, AutoYAST, BSDInstall, DHCP, PXE/TFTP, Systemd, XML, XSLT, PHP, Git;
● Experience using automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible to deploy and configure environments;
● Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, Ruby.
