Job description

This position is for a Solaris Systems Administrator with experience building and maintaining a growing environment supporting databases and SAP applications. This position will work with the existing UNIX team and the ERP team to manage, maintain, deploy, troubleshoot and support servers for a mixed customer environment.
As a Solaris Systems Administrator you will assist with implementing new system hardware and software and provide input for developing local operating procedures and policies as needed. This position will need to be adept at monitoring the ongoing operation of the servers and providing utilization reports to identify problems and corrective actions as needed.
Skills:
·  Sun Solaris (versions 8 - 11) environment – 6-10 years' experience
·  Linux OS (RHEL & CentOS various versions)
·  Server hardware lifecycle management – SPARC & X86 Servers (Cisco UCS, Dell PowerEdge & HP ProLiant servers)
·  General consulting skills including analysis and problem solving, written and verbal communication, and team collaboration
·  Experience with AIX, HP-UX - Optional requirements
·  Experience with SAN Storage (especially EMC or NetApp)
·  Experience and proficiency in Installation, management and maintenance of Sun Solaris (versions 8 - 11) environment
·  Experience in Administration troubleshooting on Solaris including cluster management
·  Experience in supporting various sun hardware Midrange & Enterprise servers both x86 and SPARC servers.
·  Experience in all aspects of hardware life cycle is highly desirable including setup, configuration, installation, maintenance, and decommission.
·  Experience implementing and supporting Solaris virtualization using Solaris Zones and LDOMS (Oracle VM)
·  Experience on Solaris Volume Manager
·  Experience on ZFS, Printer Administration, Administration of NIS / LDAP environment
·  Performance management, performance tuning & capacity management of servers for optimum performance
·  Experience on Veritas volume manager & on VCS
·  Securing the servers by hardening as per industry standard. Remediating of vulnerabilities at regular intervals.
·  Firmware upgrades, OS Patch management of existing servers
·  Consultation and recommending best practices
·  Strong troubleshooting and conflict resolution skills • Shell scripting to accomplish day to day system administration tasks
·  Experience in Backup / Recovery
·  Understanding of Storage SAN/NAS Linux
·  Installation, configuration and troubleshooting of Linux OS (RHEL & CentOS various versions)
·  Patch Management of the servers using both manual & automated methods
·  Should have through knowledge on DNS, clustering, virtualization
·  Kernel tuning, issue resolution • NFS configuration & troubleshooting
·  Should have exposure to connectivity of block level storage through iscsi and file level with NFS
·  Should have exposure to OS firewalls such as ip tables etc.
·  Troubleshooting Linux issues, system hangs & crashes
·  Should have good knowledge of RAID concepts.
·  Should be well versed with LVM, Clustering
·  Performance management, performance tuning & capacity management of servers for optimum performance
·  Printer configurations, Sendmail/postfix configuration & troubleshooting
·  High Availability Systems Management.
·  Experience in all phases of entire hardware life cycle (Dell & HP servers) is highly desirable including setup, configuration, installation, maintenance, firmware upgrades and decommission
·  Working knowledge of standard Linux security methodologies, hardening procedures, and best practices
·  Securing the servers by hardening as per industry standard.
·  Remediating of vulnerabilities at regular intervals.
·  Consultation and recommending best practices
·  Strong troubleshooting and conflict resolution skills
·  Should have basic understanding of virtual network on ESXI/Hypervisor/
·  Experience with scripting languages (shells, perl, python, etc.).
·  Should have hands on Storage experience. Required Qualifications
·  6+ years of experience with Solaris Operating System (Ver 8 onwards)
·  5+ years of experience with Linux OS (RHEL & CentOS, various versions)
·  5+ years of Server hardware lifecycle management – SPARC & X86 Servers (Cisco UCS, Dell PowerEdge & HP ProLiant servers)
·  2+ years of Backup management
·  General consulting skills including analysis and problem solving, written and verbal communication, and team collaboration
·  Bachelor's Degree preferred

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  Detailed knowledge and experience with Solaris 10 and Solaris 11 administration, to include shell scripting and networking concepts (VLANs, routing, firewalls, subnetting)
·  Familiarity with server virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware, Solaris zones, Solaris Logical Domains)
·  Familiarity with SAN/storage concepts (LUNs, HBAs), logical volume management, NFS,
·  Working knowledge of OS security best practices and experience with the Secure Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) process
·  Experience configuring/managing/updating large groups of servers.
