IBM Cloud is currently looking for an experienced and deeply technical Software Development Manager to join our global development organization building the next generation of AI-infused, cloud-native management tools for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

The Software Development Manager will recruit and build a high-performing software development team to develop, enhance and maintain data collection elements of our Cloud Pak observability platform. The team will play an important part in our broader effort to build AI-infused management solutions for our customers. You will have excellent people skills and use them motivate your team and negotiate scope and missions within organization. You will have extensive experience leading software development organizations, and a passion for delivering high quality software using an agile process. Your work will involve close collaboration with Executives, Senior Managers, Architects, and Offering Managers across our global organization.

Responsibilities:
·  Hiring and people management of a department of software developers and technical staff.
·  Overseeing the quality, schedule and pace of software development in your organization.
·  Enabling your team to perform their best by negotiating resources and skill development to remove blocks and open new opportunities.
·  Handling performance management processes and working with the global management team.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

·  10+ Years of Overall Experience.
·  3+ years of software development managing experience in backend software development with distributed systems.
·  2+ years people management experience leading a department of 10 or more developers.
·  2+ years experience working with observability technologies like open source technologies: Prometheus, Grafana,
·  2+ years experience working with Kubernetes/OpenStack or related cloud-native technologies
·  2+ years working with Linux, virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM), networking and cloud providers
·  Experience working with CI/CD processes, DevOps methodologies and tools such as git, Jenkins, Travis.
·  Excellent people skills, including negotiating, recruiting, motivating, and team building
·  Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with remote office locations.
