Job description

Employee will be working for IBM Linux support - supporting IBM's largest clients and providing technical assistance, root cause for outages, diagnosing defects, helping with configuration issues and advising on upgrades.

The role involves working with IBM clients through a combination of electronic interaction(Emails, Electronic Tickets) and via the telephone (Inbound/Outbound Calls).

will be providing support to IBM's enterprise clients.

will be supporting clients who run one of IBM's supported Linux distributions. These include Red Hat, SUSE and Ubuntu.

will be supporting Linux on one of three architectures, x86-64, Power and System z.

Every client call results in an opportunity to experience a new learning opportunity, the Linux team maintains a lab environment that includes a number of architectures and virtualization environments as well as products like OpenShift and GlusterFS.

IBM supports our Linux clients utilizing a follow-the-sun model, even with this there is an on-call rotation required. All team members are required to take part in the rotation

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Extensive work experience and knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux or SUSE Enterprise Linux Server. Candidates having RHCSA certification will be preferred. Needs to be well versed on Virtualization environment.

Candidates need to have working knowledge of some(any) Open Source Software such as Docker, Apache Web Server, Kubernetes and Open Source DBs (MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Apache Cassandra etc.)


Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

Candidates need to have some scripting experience, those having working knowledge of Programming languages like Python etc. will be preferred.

Needs to be fluent in English (both verbal and written).
