Job description


·  Diagnose and resolve reported problems using diagnostic tools and documentation.
·  Execution of assigned tasks such as: installation, maintenance, configuration and administration of network software, hardware and customer connections.
·  Provideafter hours on-call support for all customer systems as required by the business function.
·  Mainframe SNA and TCP/IP consulting.
·  Development and maintenanceofall work related documentation.
·  Provide clear and timely information on steps taken to resolve problems.
·  Document, track and report work through updating the functional area tools.
·  Document and integrate new customers.
·  Providehigh level consultancy to all internal customers and selected external customers.
·  Comply with IBM processes, policies and guidelines for conducting work.
·  Comply with IBM's Customers policies and guidelines when supporting that particular customer.
·  Meet Service Level Agreements as specified by IBM for each customer.
·  Perform Security compliance activities, as assigned.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Candidate would normally have 3 - 5 years relevant experience in a Mainframe Communication Support role and a sound knowledge of multiple products and systems.
Alternatively a minimum of 4 or more years of relevant industry experience in Mainframe or Network support.

Sound knowledge of the following protocols and products – software and hardware

·  Protocols: SNA, TCP/IP & APPN
·  z/OS (OS/390, MVS)
·  Communications Server for z/OS - SNA (VTAM) and TCPIP (including demons)
·  Session Management: One or more of IBM Session Manager for z/OS, NetView Access Services & Solve: Access Session Management
·  Network management: One or both of Tivoli NetView and CA Netmaster equivalents
·  OSA & OSA/SF
·  TSO, JCL, JES and CLIST Language(s) - REXX and/or TPSL and/or NCL

·  Network monitoring & tuning: One or both of Omegamon for Mainframe Networks & NetSpy
·  File Transfer Products / Protocols: Eg FTP/SFTP/FTPS & Solve:FTS
·  z/OS Unix System Services / OMVS
·  APPC(MVS) & ASCH
·  3270 devices and emulation programs
·  Channel technologies: CTC, MPC, Escon,Ficon etc.
·  Telecommunication Service Offerings
·  Trace and dump gathering and analysis: ACFTAP, IPCS & Exegence
·  Netex
·  Assembler
·  Principles of: Change Management, Incident / Problem Management, Project Management, Security Compliance, DisasterRecovery and Client Focus.
