IBM has an immediate openings for a Java Application Development Specialist. Our clients are some of the world's leading companies, and the successful candidate will be part of challenging and rewarding projects to build and support technical solutions to meet their business needs. As a Java Application Development Specialist, you will be expected provide development, support and delivery services for complex client applications. This role requires a broad knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve issues, work cross team to develop and implement solutions and provide technical support and consultation.

Successful candidates for these positions will work onsite at the IBM Client Innovation Center in Baton Rouge. The IBM Client Innovation Center is an in-bound delivery model where we support our clients from our Baton Rouge center. However, some travel is expected and all candidates must be willing and able to travel to meet our client needs across the US. Travel is typically related to knowledge transfer and training at the client site (Monday thru Friday). You are expected to travel up to 50% of the time. This is a traditional office position. Sponsorship opportunities are not currently available. You must live in, or be willing to relocate to, Louisiana. The work location is 100 North Street Baton Rouge, LA 70802. This is not a work from home position.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

9+ years Professional experience in IT including:
·  7+ years - Java development and troubleshooting experience
·  7+ years – Experience with AJAX, HTML, HTML5, CSS, JavaScript
·  3+ years – Technical team lead
·  3+ years – Spring
·  3+ years – XML / JSON / SOAP / REST concepts
·  3+ years – Ability to understand and analyze XML schemas
·  3+ years – Client facing experience with good communication skills
·  Experience using and configuring Apache Tomcat
·  Experience with testing / Junit
·  Able to work in a small team environment and take ownership of a deliverable
·  Comfortable working with minimal supervision
·  Understand the value of reusable code
·  Knowledgeable of performance tuning and writing scalable applications
