We are looking for an engineer to join our File and Block Storage development team. The primary focus of this role will be the integration and support of third party storage systems, using the vendor-exposed APIs and the internal development platform. In this role, you will be expected to take a primary part of the planning, design, development, testing, and deployment of software solutions and to provide the ongoing support for the File and Block products, as well as the Backup product. In addition to primary software development, automated testing, unit test coverage, and some database design will be a part of the ongoing responsibilities in this role. Resilient, secure, and scalable development is mandatory in this role, as we are responsible for one of the core foundational products in the cloud environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Taking part in bi-weekly sprint planning sessions
·
Designing and implementing software solutions to support new features on the product platform
·
Diagnosing and correcting software defects in existing feature code
·
Writing unit tests to support new software development
·
Contributing to automated functional tests for the product platform
·
Assisting the quality assurance team in the development and execution of test plans against delivered code
·
Providing customer support through on-call rotation

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

2 years relevant work experience

Experience with common scripting languages (Bash, Python, and PHP)

Experience with Git
·
Demonstrated understanding of object-oriented design principles and patterns

Demonstrated knowledge of 1 or more OOP language
·
Demonstrated knowledge of SOA / web services – SOAP, REST, XML-RPC, XML, JSON
·
Demonstrated experience consuming vendor APIs in an object-oriented environment
·
Ability to diagnose and fix complex hardware, software and network issues
·
Knowledge of operating system administration on various *nix platforms
·
Knowledge of fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; basic routing concepts, fundamental TCP/IP and system security

Knowledge of Continuous Delivery and DevOps best practices
