Job description

The role assists senior personnel within the CMB Origination team (“CMBO”) to build relationships by identifying and meeting existing and prospective CMB customer needs for Global Banking & Markets (“GB&M”) products and solutions. A fundamental part of the role includes supporting the collaboration agenda by providing reliable MI, targeting and strategic analysis for CMBO and the wider Group. The role holder is also responsible for identifying product opportunities, carrying out customer research, financial analysis and helping the senior staff prepare for customer meetings.

The tasks for this role may include some or all of the following:

· Support senior CMBO staff on day-to-day activities including client targeting, pipeline management, coordination with product partners and ensuring data are updated accurately and in a timely fashion.
· Provide support to senior CMBO staff to prepare internal management presentations relating to CMBO strategy and performance
· Ownership and maintenance of a number of proprietary databases and generation of relevant content to support above activities and presentations
· Prepare appropriate analysis, proposals and presentations for clients and prospective customers
· Undertake financial analysis as required to present to clients and prospective clients
· Collaborate with Group colleagues to deliver appropriate needs-based solutions for customers
· Ensure consistent application of Group Policy and adhere to regulatory, financial, and legal standards to minimize business and reputational risks

Impact on the Business

Collaboration between Commercial Banking (CMB) and Global Banking and Markets (GB&M) is a key global strategic imperative for the HSBC group. The aim of this collaboration is to maximize revenues from GB&M products with CMB clients and responsibility for this is housed under the CMB Origination team.

The key GB&M products in question are as follows:

· Leveraged and Acquisition financing
· Structured Finance
· Debt Capital Markets
· Equity Capital Markets
· Mergers and Acquisitions / Advisory
· Rates
· FX

Customers / Stakeholders

Key customers include:

· Existing CMB customers for whom GB&M product solutions are appropriate
· Prospective CMB customers for whom GB&M product solutions are appropriate, whether on a defined Prospect list or not

Key Stakeholders include:

· Global Head of Client Coverage
· Head of CMB USA
· Head of CMB Origination North America
· All GB&M Product Partners including heads of M&A, LAF, ECM, DCM, IRG, Structured Finance and GMCS (Global Markets Corporate Services)

Operational Effectiveness & Control

This would be demonstrated through escalating, speaking up and a proactive approach to identifying when things go wrong or potential risk issues are identified.

Ideal candidate profile

Qualifications :

· Ideally holds appropriate FINRA licenses (e.g. Series 63, 79, SIE) or expected to acquire licenses within 120 days after joining. Licenses are required to discuss and/or offer investment banking opportunities with potential and existing customers.
· 1 year of solid experience in finance preferred
· 1 year of solid experience in investment banking/corporate finance preferred
· Exceptional attention to detail
· Self-starter with demonstrable common sense and business acumen
· Strong analytical skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a team-oriented environment
· Comfortable with coordinating and presenting effectively both verbally and in writing
· Demonstrable in-depth experience with Excel and Powerpoint
· An understanding of GB&M products preferred
· An interest in financial markets and the corporate Mid-market segment EEO/AA/Minorities/Women/Disability/Veterans
