Description

HPE is looking for a motivated and creative computer science and/or electrical engineering student to work as a summer intern in the HPE Storage Networking team.  They will spend the summer assisting engineers with the setup and configuration of released and unreleased commercial servers, networking gear, and storage array equipment.  After configuration they will help with the execution of tests against that equipment.  Applicants will need a strong background in digital computer systems (both software and hardware) and must be willing to learn by experimentation with these systems.

Required Skills

·  Working knowledge of computer hardware components and their installation.  Examples: RAM, CPUs, PCIe Option Cards, Hard Drives.  Knowledge of server hardware is a bonus.
·  Working knowledge of computer networking components.  Examples: Ethernet Switches, Routers, and Cat6a cabling.  Knowledge of enterprise networking equipment or fibre optics is a plus.
·  Working knowledge of operating system components related to hardware interaction and networking.  Examples: device driver installation, network interface creation and configuration
·  Desired programming languages: Python, C++, BASH Shell or Windows Powershell
·  Desired operating system experience: Windows and Linux
