Job Description

Role - Server storage test tool development engineer.

Responsible for the development and maintenance of test software used in SATA, SAS, PCIe, and NVMe Hard Disk drive and Solid State drive development and qualifications.

The Hard Disk / Solid State drive test engineering team is responsible for the development of Hard Disk and Solid State drive testing strategy development and creation of test tools and scripts to support qualifications which ensure product designs meets HPE’s requirements.

The team consists of engineers with a specialized in-depth knowledge of disk drives, solid state, controllers, storage systems designs and their interactions. 

This engineering team is part of a larger R&D team that develops and qualifies new storage device technologies/products, along with developing procedures, practices and methodologies to provide time to market best in class server storage solutions.

Requirements

Supports Hard Disk and Solid State Drive qualification engineers in R&D and testing, developing test software and testing strategies.

Requires skills in designing, developing, troubleshooting and debugging of software programs and knowledge of storage hardware.

Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex issues and recommends appropriate alternatives.

Works on problems/projects of diverse complexity and scope. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and practices to identify and select a solution.

May act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision-making process.

Ability to handle most unique situations. May seek advice in order to make decisions on complex business issues.

Education
Bachelor's (undergraduate) degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.

Experience and Skills

12 + years of total experience
2 to 5 years coding experience

2 to 5 years computer storage related experience (i.e. Disk Drives, RAID Controllers)

Working knowledge of SATA, SAS, and PCIe/NVMe interfaces

Experience with both Linux and Windows server operating systems
Experience configuring computer systems and effective troubleshooting skills
Must possess a solid understanding of testing methodologies
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

Must be able to work well with other people in a team environment
Possess strong project and resources management skills
Leadership qualities (integrity, attention to detail, sense of urgency, goal oriented, motivator, etc.)
Good at using test equipment such as logic and bus analyzers.
Working knowledge of software applications like MS word, MS excel, MS power point

Ability to analyze, evaluate, test, and debug storage systems to root cause.
