Description

The availability of renewable energies has led to a new way of energy flows. Energy was previously generated by large plants and delivered to the end user. Nowadays photovoltaic systems, wind energy and heat pumps have changed the structures in a significant way. These changes also move the control of the overall energy distributions from the energy suppliers to the individual households or combinations of those. Therefore the demand for local energy management has emerged.Goal of the proposed thesis is the extension of existing energy control strategies under various optimization criteria. This includes large numbers of energy consuming devices and also several energy producers. Additionally the inclusion of predictive systems and the availability of dynamic tariffs is of relevance.

Requirements

The Hager Group is searching for a talented computer scientist with a strong interest in the field of energy management. Very good knowledge in the field of software development, especially Java and/or C++, is required. A background in the domain of algorithm design and sensor fusion technologies is considered a strong plus. Communication skills in English in written and spoken form are mandatory. Analytical competence, creativity and a strong interest in the provided topics is also of crucial importance.
