Job description



Your Responsibilities :
GSK is looking for a Production Management Accountant! Reporting into the Senior Finance Partner, you will provide finance support to Worthing's site day to day. As part part of your role, you will collaborate and/or lead key financial processes on site such as Month end, Finance Partnering, Planning/Forecasting and Compliance. You will provide sound financial advice to key senior stakeholders, challenge the business when appropriate and ensure the right financial controls are always followed. To contribute to the overall finance and site objective, you will have to master key financial metrics such as: OPEX, Recoveries, Prime Cost Variances, CAPEX, Inventory, Fixed Assets, Cost of Production and Headcount amongst others.

Please note that this is 12-month FTC/secondment based in Worthing.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:
Month End:
• Support senior finance partner in signing off site income statement, balance sheet and forecast/plans or LEs.
• Manage monthly reporting for aligned business areas, providing commentary on key site variances/business drivers and any actions required.
• Monitor performance indicators, highlighting trends and analysing causes of unexpected variance
• Ensure proactive and effective coordination between site finance and SMAS (Specialised Management Accounting Services), SFS (Shared Financial Services), above country finance etc.
• Calculate accruals/provisions and book according to accounting guidance
• Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives (i.e. COPQ/MUV)
• Monthly CAPEX reporting to track spending on major projects and ensure AUCs (Assets Under Construction) progress appropriately over time
• Review monthly depreciation and book appropriate journals to reflect accurate asset value

Finance Partnering:
• Provide support to the Senior Finance Partner and SLT (Site Leadership Team) by proactively identifying opportunities and raising challenges to meet business objectives and mitigate risks on the business units within Worthing site.
• Ensure delivery of challenging financial targets by maintaining a close financial oversight. Drive and support strategic transformation goals for site including the campus context, embedding productivity improvements and a lean culture to deliver cost reduction & support working capital initiatives
• Be a point of contact for the business with financial issues and provide resolution to issues arising in accounting processes and proactively support embedding of the target operating model (i.e. implementation of a shared services model) in conjunction with Above Site Finance Teams and Site Business Partners.
• Identify, own and execute finance process simplification projects and support wider site process improvement projects
• Drive cost consciousness across site, increasing engagement and skills development amongst budget holders.
• Actively contribute to delivery of site financial and business performance delivery of both operating profit and working capital targets.
• Analyse complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes
• Prepare or support realisation of presentations to Site Leadership Team and middle management
• Support strategic projects either initiated at site or above site and deal with those with strict confidentiality
• Support effective communication within the business and value streams to influence and realise opportunities, mitigate risks and achieve timely resolution of issues.

Planning and forecasting:
• Support the preparation and submission of the 3/1 Plans, Latest Estimates, including Working Capital and Capital Budgets for specific areas
• Contribute to the continued development of Budgeting, Financial Forecasting, Operating Plan and Modelling tools
• Engage with operational managers to drive improvements in cost control and planning, taking joint responsibility and accountability for decisions in aligned business areas.
• Product costing annually through ABC model and ad-hoc, supported by SMAS where appropriate
• Provide key commentary and insight on performance for management review vs plan and forecasts
• Analyse current and past trends in key performance indicators including areas such recoveries, COGS, expenses and capital expenditures to efficiently anticipate the future

Compliance:
• Support any internal and external financial audit processes by working in close collaboration with Site Compliance Manager
• Monitor key Finance compliance metrics and drive an inspection ready culture on site
• Support yearly Finance Team Self-Assessment on compliance and ICFW
• Audit T&E monthly spending and ensure individual reports are aligned with GSKs policies and follow a “Treat GSK money as your own” culture.
• Proactively manage business risk through the risk management process.
• Be up to date on any new Corporate or External accounting requirements and support Senior Finance Partner to ensure site adherence.

Why You?

Basic qualifications:
• Excellent computer skills including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Previous experience in a similar position
• Strong verbal and written English language and presentation skills
• Creating and embedding Business Solutions and driving change.
• Ability to prioritise multiple projects with varying degrees of complexity and apply project management skills
• Demonstrated financial knowledge of modelling, analysis, evaluation, forecasting, strategic planning, and decision making
• Understanding of systems and processes as they affect the financial results (BISON, Cognos, SAP, JDE, etc)
• Experience with cross-functional teams and working in a global organisation across a matrix environment

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience in GMS/ manufacturing financial processes is a plus.
• Finance / business degree or professional accountancy qualification
