Role Summary/Purpose
As a member of a multi-disciplined team, the Staff Software Engineer designs new features for applications and delivers them into GE Digital’s industrial scale, cloud hosted Predix environment. Software Engineers are responsible for full life cycle code-line ownership, are proficient in target technology stack, and implement complete features across the full stack.
Essential Responsibilities
As the Staff Software Engineer, you will:
· Analyze user stories, translate them to development tasks and estimate the size of those tasks
· Make pragmatic design trade-offs among multiple project constraints
· Lead engineering sizing of sprint backlog items
· Implement features in Python and JavaScript technologies
· Design and enforce system architecture guidelines
· Lead evolution of feature team work standards and process guidelines
· Lead code reviews of pull-requests from other staff and vendors in a Git based workflow
· Investigate and debug reported issues
· Create a culture for developer operations
· Participate and provide feedback on feature designs
· Write, unit test and debug Python and JavaScript code
· Participate in time-boxed feature sizing activities
· Inspect code and provide constructive feedback to peers and vendors
· Organize and mentor less experienced development staff
· Communicate status and demonstrate progress of the implementation effort

· Deep understanding of programming techniques in Python, JavaScript and equivalent high-level languages
· Proficient craft skills in modeling, diagramming and communicating designs
· Demonstrated solid understanding of web application development
· History of working on a team collaborating toward common goals
· Web service development experience
· Expert in Agile practices
