Role Summary/Purpose

The data architect will work with the Data Foundation team to create state of the art big data processing factory. The function of this role is to architect/design the content of the GE Transportation data, a key functional component required to support strategic data & analytics infrastructure. You will apply and enforce data architecture standards and guidelines as established within the CTO data governance framework to drive consistency in data definitions, sources, data usage & quality.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Understand and execute data architecture routines and tasks as assigned by the data foundation leadership team 
·  Ensure the integrity of master data across multiple domains including review of newly on boarded parties, management of data hierarchy relationships, processing modification requests, bulk onboarding requests, user support, etc. 
·  Drive the execution of the strategy through the implementation of MDM data matching / data quality rules and the effective execution of data content tasks 
·  Manage the day to day operations and progress of data governance projects, which include extracting data, profiling data, and providing meaningful analysis and recommendations based on the data to drive continuous improvement in enterprise data management 
·  Effectively communicate data management architecture and data governance project status with partners to ensure key parties are aware of any issues, changes or initiatives 
·  Develop metrics to track and report progress and trends on data architecture/data content/data quality and data engineering. 
·  Coordinate the timely resolution of data engineering tasks with data engineers, and the data submission partners  
·  Participate and/or lead long-term data management initiatives with the goal of continually improving master data management, quality and value-add services 
·  Actively participate in strategic and tactical initiatives in order to ensure that data architecture processes are incorporated into all data foundation projects 
·  Develop and maintain data stewardship procedures and documentation. 
·  Provide support to business applications including data architecture, data profiling, data integration, data matching, testing, training, process and/or system design 
·  Establish and maintain strong relationships with business partners to drive continuous improvements in master data quality.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) 
·  A minimum of 10 years of professional experience OR Master’s degree with 6 years of experience

·  Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a shortage of individuals with particular skills.

·  Must be willing to travel up to 30% of the time 
·  Must be willing to work out of an office located in Atlanta, GA
Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise 

·  3+ of big data experience using AWS cloud, Kafka, Spark, Elastics Search, Talend Big Data Fabric 
·  5+ years of logical and physical data modeling experience with SQL databases 
·  2+ years’ experience in data dictionary and metadata management using automated tools 
·  2+ years’ experience with MDM systems (ex. Informatica, Talend) in data architecture/ data stewardship roles 
·  Experience in developing big data processing workflows including MDM and data quality stewardship 
·  Strong data analysis skills 
·  Ability to design and develop data quality and MDM data architecture 
·  Work experience leading a small team of data engineers 
·  Proven experience in data integration projects 
·  Knowledge of various NoSQL databases (ex. Mongo DB, Casandra) 
·  Knowledge of data quality tools to automate data quality processes 
·  Experience with BI tools in AWS cloud environment 
·  Experience in ER Studio Data Architect tools is a big plus 
·  Experience with Python/Java is a plus 
·  Amazon AWS experience is a big plus 
·  Hadoop ecosystem experience is a plus 
·  Experience with Elastic Search is a plus
