Role Summary/Purpose
Staff Application Operations Engineer is DevOps tech lead in middleware/integrations team. You will work with customer teams to ensure both platform and services are meeting agreed SLAs, effectively balancing different, competing objectives. You will provide world-class, mature, measured support in cooperation with GE/vendor teams. you will be involved in predictive analytics, monitoring & reports automation. You will also own development/ enhancements of services/integrations.
Essential Responsibilities
• Administer SOA / OSB Fusion Middleware environment, Dell Boomi , OIC and similar middleware platforms.
• Support custom services deployed on middleware/iPaaS environments.
• Technical POC for GE Gas Power integrations and underlying platforms/infrastructure.
• Own end to end development to production deployment of services/integrations/their enhancements.
• Troubleshoot and root cause analysis for environmental issues as needed.
• Lead complex, multi-disciplinary teams in resolution of high profile outages/application incidents leveraging contingent worker support team, internal supporting organizations and Application Operations coworkers when appropriate.
• Plan and coordinate middleware changes with application teams ensuring all changes adhere to change management process.
• Proactively identify and communicate potential problems and issues to project team members/leaders.
• Conduct capacity planning reviews with internal management.
• Coordinate with internal management to develop and manage strategies for package/patch/upgrade management.
• Monitor underlying middleware infrastructure, compute, file system & database and provide appropriate recommendations.
• Identify and drive middleware service improvement initiatives, troubleshoot code as required.
• Work closely with business application developer to test and tune applications.
• Automate the administration of the application start up scripts and run-time environment tasks where possible. Improve/automate integration build/deployment process wherever possible.
• Provide timely and accurate on-call support for production issues.
• Require on-call support and support during Financial close weekends.
• Owns and is accountable for ensuring compliance with all policies including security and code reviews across all integrations and platforms within scope.
• Uses disciplined approaches to monitor application platform and service progress via effective information dashboards for operational metrics, defect, quality, change control, and compliance.
• Owns application monitoring and P&A reporting leveraging consistent tools and approach across integrations, recommend any changes to SLA metrics, or the creation of a new SLA metrics, to address operational issues.
• Proactively identifies and removes obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team.
• Uses data, practical knowledge and innovative insights to drive timely decisions, determine appropriate courses of action, and forecast future needs while managing risk and uncertainty for the team.
• Beyond driving day-to-day operational tempos and rigor, participates in activities for strategic business rhythms including Architecture and Roadmaps for the coming year.
• Creates a culture of customer focus and high performance to drive innovation through continuous customer engagement to facilitate appropriate application upgrades and enhancements.
• Hands on lead with strong operational control and detailed view on middleware portfolio within scope. Provide reporting on overall portfolio including costs.
• Enable minimal mandatory governance for smoother disciplined operations.
• Identify, plan, obtain buy-in and execute improvement projects. Measure and sustain improvements.
• Navigate through ambiguity, prioritize conflicting asks and shows ability to adapt to changing priorities.
• Collaborate with different stakeholders, influencing decisions and have an ability to take strategic view.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree (or a 4-year degree) in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technology field or related technical training/work experience.
• 8+ years of development and administration experience with Oracle SOA Suite, Oracle Service Bus (OSB), BPEL, BAM, B2B.
• Minimum 3-4 years of experience with developing or debugging integrations on Oracle Fusion Middleware platform.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience with scripting languages like Perl, Python, Shell Scripts.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience with developing application in Java/J2EE.
• Minimum 1-year project management and technical leadership.
Desired Characteristics
• Experience with cloud-based middleware/iPaaS platforms.
• Experience with incident management tools like ServiceNow
• Knowledge of Linux OEL, Red Hat
• Experience with automation tools like Chef, Puppet, Ruby, WSLT, Python.
• Experience with Continuous Integration tools like Myst, Jenkins, Hudson, Cruise control,
• Knowledge of Java 6+, J2EE Knowledge of Apache HTTP server, Apache Tomcat, Oracle OHS server, WebLogic

• Knowledge of JDeveloper, Eclipse, PL/SQL Developer, Cygwin, SOAP UI
• Knowledge of Incident Management, Change Management (Planning & Execution), ITIL, Six Sigma Trained.
• Experience in IT security and systems administration.
