Role Summary/Purpose

Avitas Systems is looking for a Sr. UX Designer to join our Engineering team. In this role, you will help create useful and desirable web and mobile applications for the Avitas Systems platform.
Essential Responsibilities

The Sr. UX Designer should have creative and pragmatic thinking across diverse product
releases and devices in an extremely Agile environment. You should have an uncanny sense for
clean design, and should be committed to creating elegantly simple user experiences from
otherwise complex workflows. You should bring together the execution side of design and user
research to improve the product and ultimately increase
revenue. 

Essential Responsibilities:
In this role, you
will:

·  Participate in the business-wide discussions relative to the
future direction of design and user experience
·  Participate in and support team discussions
relative to current user experience projects 
·  Participate in the evolution of Agile /
Lean UX methodologies
·  Execute effective documentation and communication of design - via
wireframes, mockups, and requirements engineering 
·  Participate in or supportresearch
and evaluation of emerging design, technology, industry, and market trends 
·  Ensure
the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
·  Optimize application for maximum speed and
scalability 
·  Assure that all user input is validated before submitting to backend
·  Support the delivery of a strong and well-optimized UI set of assets that are performant across
devices
·  Create deliverables such as user flows, wireframes, designs, and functional
prototypes. 
·  Work with the product owners and cross-functional teams to come up
with testable options 
·  Contribute to the product roadmap, including conducting user
research and estimating level of effort and complexity

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor’s Degree in Interaction, Graphic, or Industrial Design preferred or in “STEM”
Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) from an accredited college or university (OR Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with minimum 3 years of experience in product or service design
·  Minimum 5 years of
experience in product and/or service design. 

Eligibility
Requirements:

·  Legal
authorization to work in the U.S. is required. GE may agree to sponsor an
individual for an employment visa now or in the future if there is a
shortage of individuals with particular skills.
·  Travel roughly 10-20% of the time, as rerquired
Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:  

·  Uses participatory design activities (e.g. paper prototype
co-creation, card sorting) to understand vision, business model and assumptions and tacit
knowledge about user needs and behaviors. 
·  Conducts user research to understand
user needs, mental models and working contexts
·  Synthesizes output of stakeholder
research & creates visualizations that effectively summarize key insights related to user and
customer needs and behaviors, product definition. 
·  Creates annotated prototypes or
wireframes of user interface designs that visually and textually communicate the behavior of a
software application.
·  Skilled in standard design & wireframing tools (Adobe CC, OmniGraffle, Sketch), hand drawing and visual communication, time-based and interactive prototyping tools (Flinto, Hype, Axure, Adobe Edge, Keynote). 
·  Demonstrated knowledge of
contemporary web based application tools (HTML5, CSS, Javascript, Polymer a
plus).
·  Proven experience developing and delivering software. 
·  Familiar and
comfortable working within and extending a design system.
·  Proficient understanding of
client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery 
·  Proficient
understanding of MVC frameworks and UI
libraries.
