Role Summary/Purpose

The Centricity Business Hosting Services Team Systems Administration Engineer supports hosted environments within GE Datacenters. In this position you will troubleshoot customer issues that pertain to Operating System (Linux, OpenVMS, SQL, Windows) and Cache database as well as provide ongoing system management for clients.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Primary focus of this position is customer support and interaction; therefore, candidate is required to possess superior customer service and communication skills.

·  The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with the following: Operating system upgrades, Cache upgrades, TCP/IP configuration, knowledge of LAN and WAN networking concepts, working knowledge of scripting (DCL, KSH, Bash, Python), experience with storage subsystem configuration and volume shadowing.

·  Ability to analyze performance and implement system performance tuning changes at the OS and Cache level.

·  Additional duties include troubleshooting issues in the WEB MS IIS environment including SQL.

·  Ability to draw upon technical expertise to resolve customer system related issues. The technical expertise is provided remotely to customers nationwide.

·  Off-hours and on-call support will be required on a rotational basis.

·  Ability to maintain positive attitude and composure in a challenging environment during critical customer issues.

·  Ability to multitask and support multiple clients and system simultaneously.

·  Contribute to best practices in systems management on a data to day basis as well as have some skills with DB analysis and growth trending.

·  Work with other team members to continually improve our delivery and processes.

·  Communicate directly with team members/end users to diagnose and resolve issues.
Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

·  Bachelor’s degree or minimum 5 years of work experience in network or system administration.

·  Minimum 3 years system administration experience with Linux and/or OpenVMS operating system.

·  Candidate should have a minimum of 3 years experience in a technical customer support role.

·  Advanced degree in a technical discipline

·  Working location in Boston, MA or Burlington, VT offices preferred.

·  Six Sigma certification or understanding of Six-Sigma principles

·  Technical project management skills

·  Proactive/resourceful

·  Ability to work West Coast Hours

·  Basic Networking experience

·  Ability to work independently with customers to resolve complex technical issues.

·  Ability to work within a diverse, technically oriented team setting is a must.

·  Ability to explain technical concepts to all levels in an organization.

·  Willingness to maintain appropriate internal and external documentation.

·  Ability to work on cross-functional troubleshooting teams.

·  Organized and detail oriented.

·  Limited travel may be required.
