Role Summary/Purpose

You will be part of a broader software engineering community, working on various platforms and ecosystems to improve the overall experience and deliver additional capability across existing tools to our end user community. The projects they will be working on will be globally impactful, touching every employee across GE.
Essential Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Be responsible for providing technical leadership to an agile team of 5-7 software engineers and defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast-paced development environment using the latest software technologies and infrastructure.
Closely work with Product Line Leaders to understand product requirements & vision.
Translate requirements / vision into prioritized list of user stories and deliver to required timelines and quality standards.
Drive increased efficiency across teams by implementing and evangelizing software engineering best practices, eliminating duplication, leveraging product and technology reuse.
Support process improvements which guide the development, sustaining & support activities
Work cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables.
Drive world-class quality in the development of new products and support to existing ones.
Communicate effectively both within immediate team and also across SSG leadership team and with product line leaders.
Ensure team receives consistent messages and has clear understanding of business direction, strategy and results.
Engage subject matter experts in successful transfer of complex domain knowledge
Apply principles of SDLC and agile methodologies as well as Software Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques.
Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project
Understand performance parameters and assess application performance
Work on core data structures and algorithms and implement them using technology chosen
Proactively share information across the team, to the right audience with the appropriate level of detail and timeliness
Qualifications/Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) plus 4 years of relevant professional work experience in software engineering, OR Associates Degree plus 6 years of relevant professional work experience in software engineering OR High School Diploma plus 8 years of relevant professional work experience in software engineering.
GE Leadership Program Graduates will get credit towards relevant work experience, commensurate to the program they have completed
Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:

Mastery of core JavaScript paradigms and concepts as well as its shortcomings and strengths
4+ years of experience developing and maintaining frontend web applications
Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable frontend applications
Proven experience working with and integrating open standard APIs into frontend applications
Strong skill set with an eye for pixel perfect design using CSS and ensuring accessibility best practices
Proven experience optimizing frontend applications for speed and scalability
Proven understanding of how different deployment strategies impact frontend application development
Proven understanding of core computer science fundamentals
Deep understanding of how the web works, including but not limited to the network layer, browser-specific implementations, and DNS services
Proven experience working with code version systems and different branching strategies
Strongly advocates and drives coding best practices and craftmanship to deliver high quality code
Experience with ReactJS, Redux, GraphQL or TypeScript is a plus
Experience working within a design system or component library is a plus
