Role Summary/Purpose

The Cyber security engineer is a dynamic role requiring knowledge of programming, security, and secure software development practices. The engineer will partner with existing development teams to build secure software - reviewing user stories, participating in code reviews, and diving in to code new functionality or fix vulnerabilities in existing projects.
Essential Responsibilities

In addition, the engineer will manage and build shared security libraries and tooling, train developers in secure coding practices, identify gaps in existing processes and tools, and enhance development toolsets.

In this role you will:

·  Collaborate with software development and support teams during the design phase to build secure systems

·  Drive best practices and sound design principles through the Secure Software Development Lifecycle

·  Participate in complex software development projects as a secure development expert.

·  Educate teams across GE Power on secure development best practices, tools, and methodologies.

·  Design and build tools and libraries for the Power security team.

·  Participate in code reviews across teams to ensure secure coding practices.

·  Lead projects to drive the assessment, operationalization and adoption of new technologies, platforms, tools and frameworks
Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

·  BS degree or higher in Computer science or in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)

·  Minimum of 3 years IT development experience, preferably using Object Oriented languages

·  Minimum of 1 years IT experience with information security

Eligibility Requirements:

·  Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job

·  Must be willing to travel 0-5%

·  Must be willing to work out of an office located in one of the following: Schenectady (NY), Atlanta (GA), Cincinnati (OH), Greenville (SC), Van Buren (MI), or Glen Allen (VA).
Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:

·  Strong development background, with a focus on secure development.

·  Knowledge of API Security Architecture

·  Working knowledge of Cloud Provider security architecture design patterns

·  Great communication, team spirit, and leadership abilities

Desired:

·  A general understanding of supporting technologies including SOAP, OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect, HTTP, XML, LDAP, SQL, and XACML.

·  Experience with IAM solutions like Cyber-Ark, Ping Identity, Siteminder, Attribute Exchange Network

·  Experience with Java / NodeJS / Go / PHP / Python / Ruby

·  Spring and Maven exposure

·  Working knowledge of OWASP Web/API vulnerabilities and compensating controls (CSRF, XSS, SQLI, etc.)

·  Familiarity with encryption fundamentals: PKI, Encryption, Digital Signatures & Key Management

·  Software development cycle and automated testing experience (TDD/BDD)

·  Working knowledge of source control tools such as CVS/SVN /Git , with preference for Git
