Role Summary/Purpose

The Solution Design function is part of the global Software COE organization which is included into the Services function of the Software Solutions product line. The mission of the Solution Design function is to ensure best in class and optimal technical design to meet customer functional and non-functional requirements, project budget and timescales.
Essential Responsibilities

Inside the scope of the Solution design function, the solution designer is in charge of tasks in a segment or a domain (Transmission {EMS, MMS, and WAMS}, Distribution {DMS, DERMS} and Analytics solutions. The tasks can be related to Sales / Tendering, Operations or Engineering activities.
For projects in their dedicated segment or domain, the solution designer drives, validates and audits the design of the Software Solution during the different phases of execution of a project. These phases begin from the Tendering stage and continue till the system acceptance in the customer site (Scope review, SOW, solution review, FAT, SAT,..).
To achieve these goals, the solution designer works closely with the Delivery manager, the support of others Solution design members (Architects and Technical experts), the Application engineering team, the Tendering team and the Engineering team.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

·  In the context of SWS project execution within the Services organization,

·  In coordination with the delivery management function, responsible for interacting with customers in order to define, produce and maintain optimal System Designs:

·  Responsible for the communication and enforcement of Design to Customer and Key Project Stakeholders

·  Manage involvement of Application Engineering and make sure their design contributions meet system architecture functional and non-functional requirements

·  Contribute to all key stages of project (FAT/SAT/Project Governance) and responsible for solution review gates

·  Responsible for design documentation

·  Collaborate with ComOps to ensure optimal technical proposals

·  Ensure that proposed architectures and designs are according to best practices and are optimal

·  Ensure that all proposed solution can be delivered

·  Ensure maximal re-usability of design information across the various geographies

·  Support tendering team during customer interactions

·  Collaborate with Product development & Engineering

·  Build technical expertise in the field of his segment or domain

·  Drive excellence in execution through continuous improvement in his segment or domain:
Participating for knowledge capitalization and dissemination across the solution design teams
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Honours Degree or equivalent, STEM disciplines and/or equivalent experience

·  English fluent; fluency in additional languages (especially French, Spanish) is advantageous

·  HW Servers, SAN architecture, LAN, WAN

·  Cloud environment

·  High availability

·  Standard of Cybersecurity

·  Virtualization and Containers

·  Distributed architecture, microservices,

·  Enterprise Service Bus

·  WEB architecture

·  Supervisory and Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA)

·  Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable presenting technical design, technical solutions and enterprise architecture solutions to clients/customers (French & English)

·  Industry knowledge in the field of operation and multi sites project organizations

·  Process and methodology oriented

·  Must be willing to travel

·  Ability to remotely drive people towards a common goal
