Role Summary/Purpose

The Services Engineering Productivity team owns technical content of maintenance requirements and drives improved reliability for the entire Onshore Wind turbine fleet that is under Service contract. The team also supports remanufacturing of wind turbine components, which is a growing opportunity for the services business. This role is located at the North American refurbishment factory for wind turbine components and provides key engineering expertise for requirements of remanufacturing.
Essential Responsibilities

As Remanufacturing Lead Engineer on the Services Engineering Productivity team, you will: 

• Develop requirements for refurbishing gearboxes, generators, motors, or other wind turbine components to ensure operational quality of the components when returned to service 
• Qualify processes used to refurbish wind turbine components, especially supporting Amarillo shop but also other sites performing refurbishment for GE Services 
• Define testing requirements of refurbished components to ensure functional requirements are achieved 
• Disposition deviations from engineering requirements that occur on remanufactured components 
• Pro-actively collaborate during remanufacturing project development with stakeholders across the global organization including commercial, design engineering, regional services, sourcing, etc 
• Evaluate technical risk and drive risk mitigation for remanufacturing development projects, while meeting budget and schedule 
• Clearly communicate project status, issues, risks, benefits, recommendations, etc to leadership & business stakeholders 
• Execute projects and tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures, including technical design reviews

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited college or university 
• Minimum of 7 years of engineering experience

• Experience with refurbishing of heavy industrial equipment

• Relevant practical, hands-on engineering experience and understanding of engineering fundamentals

• Strong oral and written communication skills 
• Ability to influence stakeholders and drive change 
• Basic project management skills, including technical risk management 
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt quality certification 
• Advanced degree in Engineering or equivalent
