Role Summary/Purpose

To work within a small team of station staff directly involved in operating the station in a safe and
effective manner. In the pre-operational phase, the post holders will attend training as directed, work
on the station manuals/procedures and assist as directed with commissioning and start up activities.
The Operations engineer shall work as part of five 2-man shift crews,
Essential Responsibilities

This list is not written in any order of priority and is also not to be construed as the limit of responsibility. 

·   Acting as the Operations Manager’s authorised deputy outside normal office hours. 
·   Assist in the management of staffing to ensure that an adequate shift team is available at all times
for duty. 
·   Operate and monitor al plant system both form the Control room and locally as required,
maintaining the unit within all applicable guidelines and regulations including emissions, efficiency,
heat rate and safety. 
·   Maintain a complete set of logs to include all information during normal operation and during
operational excursions. 
·   Work closely with shift partner to ensure high standards of communication and plant operation. 
·   Carry out minor maintenance on shift when required. 
·   Assist in the operation of the Water Treatment Plant and perform routine water testing on a regular
basis. 
·   Troubleshoot all plant systems and submit work requests into the CMMS 
·   Conduct plant inspection tours in a professional manner, and ensure that the stations general
housekeeping is completed. 
·   Acting as the emergency controller during the initial stages of an incident/emergency. 
·   Acting as the operational and commercial point of contact for the Electricity Generating Authority
of Thailand (EGAT) and the Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT). 
·   Assisting in the decisions and initiating action during non-routine events during the shift e.g.
making balanced judgements about plant item shutdowns. 
·   Continually striving to have an up to date knowledge and understanding of all station and company
policies and procedures pertinent to his position’s requirements. 
·   Liaison with other sections on this station to ensure that eh Operations team obtains the necessary
support and that its operations are co-ordinated with other work on the site. 
·   To work and assist during the outages as directed by the management team. 
·   Seeking and implementing opportunities to improve performance and reduce costs. 
·   Initiating changes and additions to the station manuals and work instructions to further the
philosophy of “continuous improvement” 
·   Authorising safety defects and giving consideration to the priority of other defects. 
·   Acting as a senior Authorised Person 
·   Take corrective actions to control all situations in which safety or health of the staff or plant or
environment is at risk. 
·   Assist in the receipt and storage of goods hazardous and benign to the station as required. 
·   Attend and contribute to all staff team meetings for the continual improvement of the team’s
performance.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Recognised Tertiary qualification in science engineering related. 
·  Management skills with at least five years of total operational experience, 3 years with gas turbine
plants. (This requirement is preferred and not mandatory) 
·  5-10 years in power generation with progressive experience up to control room operator.
Experience preferred in combined cycle and gas turbines, but industrial, marine and utility power
may be acceptable. Some power plant maintenance preferred. 
·  An understanding of engineering design and engineering practices on a modern power station. 
·  Substantial knowledge of the operational aspects of a CCPP. 
·  A detailed knowledge of the legislation associated with the safe operation of the plant. 
·  A detailed knowledge of the station organisation 
·  A detailed knowledge of the company safety rules. 
·  The ability to speak, read and write English.
