Role Summary/Purpose

Unison Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of GE Aviation, is a world leader in the design and manufacture of electrical components, sensors and systems for aircraft, industrial, marine, military and space. Unison’s products span the globe and can be found on almost anything flying – from two place trainer airplanes to giant 747’w and rockets traveling to space. We presently have an opening for a 1st shift Material Handler, working from 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
Essential Responsibilities

o Perform basic oracle transactions and associated order paperwork
o Requires specific knowledge in one or more of the following material handler functions: receiving, shipping, stock room, and expendable items.
o Pick parts according to work order instructions for delivery to manufacturing.
o Perform cycle counts and associated transactions.
o Apply pack slip instructions when packing packaging parts.
o Unload and receive incoming deliveries.
o Working knowledge of FedEx, UPS systems, and other shipping systems.
o Special handling of parts with cure date / shelf life.
o Complete accurate scale counts; Operate fork lift, pallet jack, tank carts, etc.
o Possess forklift certification as required.
o Possess valid driver’s license in order to pick up and deliver items. Must pass online training prior to driving.
o Use proper PPE, safety equipment, and follow safety procedures.
o Must be comfortable multi-tasking and working within deadlines.
o Participate in and support team initiatives; Receive guidance from higher level employees.
o Cross train other employees as needed based upon knowledge and experience.
o Compliantly complete all written and / or electronic labor tracking documentation.
o Report problems to appropriate resource and / or coach.
o Keep all shift operators informed of special problems involving operation or set up.
o Communicate with team to ensure all team members are aware of new processes and/or issues.
o Proactively work to improve efficiency and quality of products; Other duties as required by department.
o Work extended and flexible hours as needed to support business needs including working weekends and / or extended shifts.
o This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Qualifications/Requirements

 High School Diploma / GED
 This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
o Ability to use basic hand tools and measuring devices (rulers, tape measures, etc.)
o Willingness and ability to use basic computer applications (Excel, Oracle, etc)
o Basic understanding of process instructions
o Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, etc.) and metric conversions (i.e. scale conversions)
Desired Characteristics

o Flexibility in schedule to work overtime as required.
o Previous stockroom, shipping, and / or receiving experience.
o Prior experience operating forklift; Previous experience in a self-directed team environment.
o Lean manufacturing knowledge; Extreme attention to detail
o Physical requirements: Ability to continuously lift 1-10 lbs., frequently lift 11-22 lbs., and occasionally lift 23-50 lbs. Ability to stand and walk continuously, as well as frequent bending, stooping, and crouching.
