Role Summary/Purpose

The Metallurgical and Quality Technician is responsible for performing quality inspections to verify that all products align with the required GE quality requirements. In addition, you will have the responsibility of assisting metallurgy / additive engineers in lab operations involving metallic and polymer elements. This individual will perform routine technical tasks, including operating and maintaining equipment, as well as conducting analysis and experimental procedures.

Essential Responsibilities

·  Maintaining product standards through the application of rigorous inspection techniques
·  Reviewing supporting documentation from outside vendors to ensure conformity with relevant technical requirements
·  Inspecting products associated documentation to confirm compliance
·  Using, controlling and caring for inspection metrology and metallurgical equipment and ensuring the valid calibration status of such items
·  Identifying, controlling and reporting all non-conforming product in the Quality system for accurate and timely record keeping
·  Identifying and driving continuous improvement opportunities
·  Adherence to and compliance with company and regulatory EHS requirements & expectations at all times
·  Communicating with Project Management and with clients to determine materials requirements
·  Providing technical advice about the suitability of metals and polymers for different purposes
·  Investigating corrosion and metal failure / fatigue
·  Using specialized computer applications
·  Developing new test and repair processes
·  Investigating production problems
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Associate’s degree in an engineering or science related degree program from an accredited school or institution
·  Experienced with the requirements of formal Quality Management Systems and standards (such as ISO 9001:2008)

Desired Characteristics

·  Experience in the additive technology industry

·  Experience using CT, CMM, scanning electron microscope and structured light scan (blue light) machines for inspection

·  An engineering background, such as time-served mechanical or electrical technician

·  ASNT NDT Certification (Level II or Level III preferred) for Visual / Optical, Liquid Penetrant, Radiographic and Ultrasonic testing

·  Detailed knowledge of inspection and metrology techniques and processes

·  Detailed knowledge of metallurgical sample preparation techniques and processes

·  Detailed knowledge of requirements associated with the control of monitoring and measuring devices

·  Thorough understanding of manufacturing drawings, geometric and dimensional tolerances and specifications

·  Knowledge of and familiarity with relevant company and industry standards

·  Ability to generate concise and detailed reports of inspection findings

·  Familiar with the use of Microsoft Office applications

·  Good communication skills

·  Local candidates preferred
