Role Summary/Purpose

Avio Aero is reinforcing the focus to excellence in aeronautical mechanical transmissions (i.e. Helicopter Transmission Systems, Power Gearboxes and Accessory drivetrain) offering distinctive solutions to Third Party Customers and to GE engines. In this spirit, we are looking for a Mechanical Transmission System expert to support the whole engineering organization while being accountable for specific tasks assigned within the Third Parties NPI (New Product Introduction) section.
Essential Responsibilities

·  In this role he provides technical leadership to young engineers and support the organization in identifying key technical talents to develop within the Controlled Title Holder (CTH) organization. 
·  The Principal Engineer utilizes experience and expertise to solve complex problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to affect short-term and long-term Company goals. 
·  He will: 
·  Lead the design definition within the NPI process from preliminary design to product detailed definition, first protype procurement, testing and certification. 
·  Define gearbox architecture making explicit the design Intent, assuring the achievement of performance targets. Lead mechanical system concept design and technical feasibility studies. 
·  Discuss on daily basis with the Customer supporting System Engineer in product definition (e.g. engine architecture trade studies, geometrical and functional interfaces, risk assessment) 
·  Support the System Engineer in flowing down system requirements to components definition (including certification strategy, Design Specification release, definition of mechanical/functional interfaces, stack ups and assembly checks)  
·  Support Sub-Section manager in coordinating design activities (internal and external) such as system/product definition, defining scope of work, technical specifications and providing technical assessment of team capabilities. 
·  As a proven expert in the discipline he will extend his contribution to adjacent product life phases: he will support Advanced Technology Organization in performing product concept trade studies and populating the Company Growth Playbook for mechanical transmissions, as well as collecting the feedbacks from product performances in Service. 
·  Provide technical leadership in Design Reviews, contributing in substantiating and endorsing the proposed design solutions. For other engineering section he will act as a non-advocate reviewer ensuring full compliance of the proposed design solution to Design Practices and Lessons Learned. 
·  Remain cognizant of State Of The Art in area of expertise, identify and recommend where improvements in knowledge of the specific discipline or technical trainings are needed, contributing in enhancing technical excellence within all design organizations.  
·  Work closely with the Chief Engineer Office to champion Career Progression at Global Sites, contributing in Technical Talent Review assessment for mechanical transmissions domain expertise  
·  Mentor to young engineers and support the organization in identifying key technical talents to develop within the Controlled Title Holder (CTH) organization.
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Master of Science in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited University 
·  Proven experience in complex mechanical system, acquired in the sector of gearboxes systems and/or components. Knowledge of gearbox technical requirements, design solutions, technologies. 
·  Clear thinking and diligent approach 
·  Knowledge of CAD design tools (preferable NX & Teamcenter), Microsoft package  
·  Good interpersonal and communication skills 
·  Strong oral and written communication skills 
·  Curiosity and passion for mechanic design 
·  EU work permit, English language knowledge, both written and oral.

·  Previous significative experience in Helicopter Mechanical Transmission design and make company 
·  Capable to work in multicultural environment, preferable previous international experience 
·  New Product Introduction process experience 
·  Basic FEM tools knowledge
