Role Summary/Purpose

The Material Specialist will process receiving and put-away transactions to meet KPI target of 24 hours “receipt to put-away” commitment.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Material Specialist, you will:

·  Follow thorough incoming inspection procedures to evaluate / audit to ensure conformance to quality standards i.e. damage material, shortages, overages, incorrect parts
·  Support in indirect PO (900 type) and mail type receipt, sorting, and management
·  Troubleshoot material related issues to include interaction with the Sourcing / Fulfillment team
·  Support material activities and problem solving through advanced usage of Oracle
·  Have the ability to interpret Illustrated Parts Books, Service Bulletins, Oracle, etc.
·  Identify and resolve configuration issues and systems issues
·  Coordinate parts credit returns and reallocations
·  Provide solutions to expected parts shortages to meet production needs
·  Collect data, run reports, track, communicate status, and update performance metrics
·  Track, order, inventory, organize, and maintain all types of tools, calibrated equipment, and shop supplies
·  Be responsible for receipt and coordination with Sourcing and may be required to interact with outside vendors
·  Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager

·  Support in backfilling Receiving Coordinator when out of office: responsibilities include discrepancy tracking and resolution, coordinating with GE Aviation team, and engine / can offloading, management, and tracking
·  Support in supporting in other critical warehouse operations which we have over capacity and it is feasible to reallocate resources
Qualifications/Requirements

·  High School Diploma / GED
·  Minimum of 1 year of experience in a warehouse, stockroom, or storage yard
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

·  Ability to be able to lift, push, and pull up to 40 pounds
·  Ability to operate a forklift over 15,000 pounds
Desired Characteristics

·  Previous Material Handling experience  
·  Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English language
·  Advanced computer skills (Oracle, MS Excel, or another warehouse management system)
·  Be able to read engineering drawings, Illustrated Parts Books, and Service and Product Bulletins
·  Capability to actively work on multiple tasks at the same time
·  Certified to operate a forklift or ability to be certified under GE standards
·  Strong verbal, communication, and interpersonal skills
·  Minimum of 1 year of experience with barcode scanners
·  Experience with lean action work-outs
