Role Summary/Purpose

Here’s your chance to join the Ultrasound team in GE Healthcare. This engineer’s responsibilities include: developing & owning the processes for Ultrasound manufacture & distribution products while promoting safety, lean, manufacturing & quality methods, tooling, & equipment. This role focuses on improving processes that reduce product cost & improve product quality. Essential Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:
• Drive improved product quality by identifying manufacturing issues, developing cost-effective solutions, and overseeing successful implementation into production.
• Own the manufacturing process through process layout, tool development, and new equipment.
• Identify critical product quality, safety, and customer satisfaction issues early and resolve them proactively with cross functional teams such as: Sourcing, Design Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering, Install Base Engineering, etc.
• Partner with Production Associates and Engineers to evaluate and resolve manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment and product design.
• Identify and propose solutions for complex problems that may have high levels of ambiguity
• Looks for process improvements, engages in problem resolution, uses project management skills, and is able to provide employee training when necessary
• Work with global team members to ensure on-time, within budget, and complete launches of Ultrasound Late Point Configuration systems.
• Draft and execute Validation and Verification procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify and lead compliance, safety activities, and projects in support of plant goals.
• Aware of and comply with the ISO Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.
• Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.
• Complete all planned Quality and Compliance training within the defined deadlines
Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering degree
• Prior internship and/or paid technical project work experience in a manufacturing business that involved manufacturing engineering, lean, or shop operations
• Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal
• Previous work experience identifying and implementing improvements for a manufacturing process or product
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with MS Office programs such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.

U.S. (Country) Specific Qualifications:
1. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States full-time without sponsorship at time of hire
2. Must be willing to work in our Wauwatosa, WI facility full-time

Desired Characteristics

Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters Degree in Engineering or a MBA.
• 2 + years of work experience and demonstrated knowledge and understanding of document control, design transfer, verification, validation, acceptance activity, to ensure that the product, equipment, tools, processes, software, training and documentation meet all requirements.
• 2 + years of work experience utilizing Lean methodology and lean tools.
• Proven ability to interact with global team members.
• Ability to explain and communicate technical concepts to cross functional team members.
• Creative problem solver and solution developer when presented with conflicting requirements, business demands and technical risks/issues.
• Clear Thinker: Strong decision-making skills: takes proactive steps to generate results, uses data and other inputs to make decisions, owns decision, and takes accountability for work using organizational and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently toward timely completion of a variety of assignments.
• Six sigma certification, demonstrated understanding of DMAIC project methodology, and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) certification.
• Previous experience and understanding of medical device manufacturing, especially Ultrasound products.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the GE Healthcare Quality Management System and procedures for Good Manufacturing Processes.
