Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Essential Responsibilities

·  Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements 
·  Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project 
·  Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
·  Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments 
·  Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues 
·  Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews 
·  Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures

·  Participate in proposal development by steering the mechanical design, thermal, vibration, and other environmental design philosophy in the preferred direction and advising team members of the risks related to trade study choices
·  Prepare data items for projects including thermal, vibration, and other environmental reports.  These reports will be the result of formal or informal analyses (at the appropriate level and with the appropriate tools).
·  Conduct and participate in peer reviews requiring mechanical inputs
·  Be proficient in Worst Case, RSS, and 6-Sigma tolerance analysis of mechanical parts. 
·  Be familiar with basic electrical engineering principles, and the application and use of electrical connectors and other interconnect products in product and test equipment
·  Familiar with machining processes, and have demonstrated ability to design products that are producible by these processes

Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited university or college.  Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering relating to product / test equipment design for electronic packaging / hardware.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

·  This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology.  GE will require proof of status prior to employment

·  ANSYS (Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
·  Flotherm (CFD / thermal analysis)
·  Unigraphics NX (mechanical design)
·  Evidence of successful history working with virtual teams
·  Knowledge of civil and military mechanical or environmental design specifications.
