Role Summary/Purpose

To strengthen our Technology and Product Development capability within the emissions and aftertreatment discipline, we are searching for an engineer with broad expertise in Recip and Emission Control Technologies, an open minded creative and self-motivated team player for our Emission Solutions team to develop cutting edge, highly integrated emission control solutions for all fuels and applications.

Essential Responsibilities

The Emissions requirements of our gas engines are becoming even more stringent; many countries have released new or tightened existing regulations. New limited species and operating conditions are being added. Plant neighbors expect cleaner electricity and heat. Legislation can support the economic advantages of gas engines only if we guarantee further lowest emissions and deliver our contribution to environment and climate protection.

As the Lead Engineer Emission Solutions, you will:

·  Support definition / execute on the emission solution strategy for all products
·  Flow down / define engine and after treatment component and functional CTQ’s
·  Oversee, develop and serialize fully integrated emission control technologies, including exhaust purification for all our reciprocating engines working closely with the controls, performance, design, mechanical development and systems departments
·  Identify risks and mitigation activities within the new operating system to support the set-up of projects for new units and CM&U accordingly
·  Lead projects, work packages or tasks to deliver agreed results in time / budget
·  Prepare technology studies for highly integrated new emission solution concepts
·  Determine the technical and economical optimum of balanced engine internal and secondary technologies
·  Plan and execute experiments on components, sub-systems, and complete engines in a laboratory environment or on engines in the field
·  Perform independent required engineering calculations or organize calculation + simulation support in an effective manner
·  Plan, lead and execute validation projects in house or at customer field sites
·  Cultivate supplier base: prepare specifications, evaluate offers, drive discussions to get what we need and team up with Sourcing and GSCM
·  Document complex data and conclusions in technical reports and present findings in technical reviews
·  Provide serial support (Sales, Service, Customer interaction)
·  Maintain international collaboration with technology partners inside / outside GE
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Bachelor's Degree in Process, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited university or college
·  Minimum of 3 years of experience in the area of reciprocating engines, including after treatment of exhaust gases
·  Minimum of 3 years of experience in the planning and execution of projects, as well as simulation and testing
·  Minimum of 3 years of development experience with state of the art simulation and emissions measurement technologies, including model based controls / diagnostics, mean value models, chemical kinetics of any of the following: lean burn, rich burn, or exhaust gas recycle applications ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

·  Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time

·  Experience in analysis / validation of catalyst chemistry and catalyst aging
·  Understanding of related controls requirements
·  Understanding of deployment, calibration and validation of after-treatment control systems
·  Comfortable with presentation of detailed technical themes across a wide range of audiences
·  Self-starter, outstanding motivation, team player
·  Comfortable in an international environment 
·  Strong oral and written communication skills
·  German language skills
