Role Summary/Purpose
A Field Engineer - Excitation Systems, South Region All resources, and logistics required to perform services and maintenance activities. These activities contribute to, maintain, repair and refurbish sold or existing products.
Essential Responsibilities
In the role of Field Engineer - Excitation Systems, South Region, you will:
· Participate as a Regional Service Team member
· Lead execution of retrofit projects. Scope of projects includes one or more of the following:
· Excitation System Upgrades (EX 2100e) either full or DFE (Digital Front End), LCI (Starting System) Upgrades
· Partake in HMI upgrades
· Partake in TIL Implementation
· Execute on site project management and technical leader duties
· Support warranty administration and troubleshooting issues
· Work at GE and customer locations throughout the Southeast and Southern United States (primary) with possible work locations within the US and globally
· Complete timely service reports, invoicing packages, and other administrative requirements
· Drive customer satisfaction through commitment to quality
· Support the business growth initiatives
· Be responsible for Nuclear control retrofit site planning and execution
· Manage site execution of generator control retrofits
· Interface with Power Services and other GE Businesses
Qualifications/Requirements
· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE, BSME ) from an accredited college or university (OR Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in Electronics (AAS) or Mechanics (AAS) with a minimum 5 years of experience in generator excitation systems, LCI starting systems and/or generator protection systems( (OR High School Diploma / GED from an accredited school or institution with a minimum 7 years of experience in generator excitation systems, LCI starting systems and/or generator protection systems)
· Minimum 3 years of experience in generator excitation systems, LCI starting systems and/or generator protection systems
Eligibility Requirements:
· Travel 80% of the time, as required
· Work significant over-time
· Possess a valid driver's license and able to obtain or possess a US Passport and TWIC Card
Desired Characteristics
· Previous industrial and/or utility field service experience with electrical equipment primarily excitation systems or drive systems.
· Minimum of 1 year of Nuclear experience
· Controls experience to equipment that functions as a ""prime mover""
· Electronics and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills (""Hands-on approach"")
· Computer skills, familiarity with MS Office, TCP / IP configuration
· Ability to learn other software tool applications to support HMI and application changes (Cimplicity, Toolbox, etc.)
· Prior electrical maintenance experience
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to read and write English
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings
· Self-starter with minimal supervision requirement; able to work independently; ability to prioritize, organize work, and meet deadlines
· Ability to set and meet aggressive targets
