Role Summary/Purpose

The Controls Engineer will be involved in all phases from early phase customer requirements discussions through to development, delivery projects and aftermarket support. Focus will mainly be on controls System (software/electronics) and subsea electrical actuators, but other tasks within the subsea controls domain can also be relevant.
Essential Responsibilities

The controls engineer shall support towards offshore operation and workshop activates that includes development or review of technical documents, troubleshooting and repairs.

Operational:

·  Execute and drive the given engineering tasks to completion (Independently or part of a team)

·  Estimate duration, budget and schedule for assigned tasks in ITO phase

·  Sanity check on agreed SOW, budget, schedule and cost allocation before startup of task

·  Control duration, budget and schedule for assigned tasks in OTR phase, be accountable for delivery

·  Identify changes, VOR opportunities and cost savings for tasks assigned

·  Highlight issues and/or bottlenecks to Project manager on a timely manner to allow for recovery

·  Suggest and develop recovery plans when needed, in cooperation with project manager

·  Identify, log and highlight operational and technical risk in projects

Technical:
• Create SOW for assigned task, and support on SOW creation for projects
• Interpretation of clients standards and global practices, implement on assigned work
• Create/Review/Approval of engineering Parts/Documents/Procedures/Study Reports/ Design/Requirement as per guidelines and authorization
• Identify customers requirement (technical / products problems, execution issues) and bring effective solutions
• Gain understanding of assigned task/SOW before startup, clarify if needed.
• Provide support to Onshore and Offshore operations
• Provides consultation, mentoring and guidance to Engineers on processes, assignments and challenges
• Evaluate consequences, manage risk and make own decisions based on knowledge and experience for projects
• Promote and ensure compliance to company and regulatory EHS requirements & expectations at all time
• Promote and ensure compliance to company and regulatory Quality management systems at all time
Qualifications/Requirements

·  Experience with subsea/topside controls system

·  Genuine interest in software, electronics and microcontrollers

·  Bachelor or Master degree in Software, computer science, Electrical, Cybernetics, Mechatronics or Electronics. Equivalent degree with the required qualification can be also considered

·  Skilled programmer with excellent technical understanding and good knowledge of microcontrollers (ARM).

·  Experience with motor control (Brushless DC Motors, servos etc)

·  Development and maintenance of HAL drivers

·  Experience with 8/16 bits and 32 bits architectures

·  C/C++ programming and script languages like Python

·  Sockets, TCP/IP, SSL/SSH communication and web service development

·  Familiar with different kinds of Real Time Operating Systems

·  Must be able to read and understand electrical schematics and diagrams

·  English fluent verbal and written. Norwegian or other Nordic languages are an advantage

·  Flexibility to work with multiple product lines and in a multi-disciplinary environment.

·  Excellent inter-personal, analytical and problem solving skills

·  Self-driven, positive and committed attitude, highly organized and resilient

·  Knowledge of CANbus, Modbus and ethernet protocols

·  Familiarity with Open Source software and community

·  Strong technical attitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
