Essential Responsibilities

This individual is responsible at the Hydro Europe level of the Financial operations and reporting in remote locations with an emphasis on accounting operations and related streams (taxes, treasury, governance etc…). There is a particularly focus on coordinating the accounting closing & reporting operations both in French stat as well as in US GAAP. This process will involve accounting teams in France and in most remote locations globally. There is a strong control dimension to the role with the individual required to travel to remote location as and when needed to review financial operating processes, recruit & train teams accordingly.

The primary responsibilities are as follow:
‒ Design & establish relevant entity structure: Branch, LE, ME, etc… in partnership with legal & Tax.
‒ Design & establish the most cost-effective process infrastructure: Staffing, System, bank accounts, petty cash.
‒ Run daily operating rhythms with the various functions involved with the branches (Offshore accounting center, local accounting teams, Project Management, Legal, Tax, Treasury, HR)
‒ Coordinate financial close in multiple GAAP (Local, French & US) with the various stakeholders including external parties (external auditors, CAS, Local authorities etc…)
‒ Partner with Legal & Tax to ensure the filing by the various parties involved in the management of the branches.
‒ Ensure effective liquidity management between the branches and the head office, to optimize tax exposure and cash management. This will be done in partnership with Site Finance and Project management.
‒ Ensuring speedy closure of unnecessary branches
‒ Develop a control framework to review the risk brought by the branch activities, the controls in place and test this control framework with regular on-site visits (Eastern Europe, Africa, Central Asia, Middle East).
Qualifications/Requirements

This role will require at a minimum an individual that has the following skills:
‒ Bachelor degree. Minimum 10 years’ experience of finance or accounting experience.
‒ Can demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work cross functionally.
‒ Strong knowledge of the impact of managing multiple GAAPs in an international environment.
‒ Ability work in a strongly multicultural environment with numerous locations and time zones
‒ Ability to travel globally for extended periods.
Desired Characteristics

‒ Public accountancy with certification (or equivalent experience)
‒ Strong analytical and prioritization skills that enable to manage multiple priorities in a team environment with multiple functions involved in one process.
‒ Strong Influential leadership, having a track record of leading initiatives and building relationships in a global organization would be strongly beneficial
‒ Capacity to build and simplify, being able to demonstrate past experience of streamlining processes would be a plus.
‒ Fluency in French on top of English.
