Essential Responsibilities

The Optimization Engineer will be part of the Application Engineering team delivering software solutions in Energy Market and Smart Grid areas. (S)He will be in charge of implementing advanced optimization-based applications for MMS (Market Management System) and DERMS (Distributed Energy Resources Management System); which includes functional design, software design, development, testing, application integration and tuning.

Les responsabilités de l’ingénieur Optimisation incluent le design fonctionnel, l’intégration, les tests et la livraison finale de chez le client. Il/Elle sera emmené(e) à effectuer des missions régulières chez nos clients dans le monde (principalement en Europe et en Afrique) durant les phases de spécification et d’implémentation de nos solutions sur site. 

Principales responsabilités  
• Assurer le design et l’implémentation des fonctions d’optimisation dans nos logiciels pour le Marché de l’Energie (MMS) et de gestion de réseaux électriques, en particulier les systèmes des gestions de Ressources d’Energie Distribuées ; 
• Lead technique de la spécification, le design, le développement, l’implémentation, le tuning et la maintenance des applications logicielles ; 
• Responsable du planning des activités sur son scope dans le projet, du suivi de la progression, de l’évaluation du reste à faire et d’envoie de rapports réguliers de l’état d’avancement, de la consommation du budget et l’évaluation des risques ainsi qu’aux plans de mitigation associés ; 
• Développer des relations de confiance avec les clients et les partenaires sur ses domaines d’expertises ;
• Supporter les équipes marketing, ventes et de réponses à appel d’offres en suivant les stratégies de développement et de déploiement ; 
• Supporter les équipes marketing pour les démonstrations techniques aux clients ; 
• Fournir un niveau avancé de support sur les projets en ayant une capacité à résoudre des problèmes complexes.

• Design and implementation of new functionality in optimization-based software for Market Management Systems and Distributed Energy Resources Management Systems. 
• Technical lead on specification, design, development, implementation, tuning and maintenance software applications. 
• Accountable for tasks implementation planning in his scope of the project, progress monitoring and CTC (cost to complete) evaluation. 
• Accountable for regular updates to the project Delivery Manager on progress status, budget consumption, risks evaluation and associated mitigation plan. 
• Interface and develop relationships with customers and partners on general and specific areas of functional expertise. 
• Ensure that quality assurance standards and procedures are followed in all aspects of the implementation. 

• Assist Tendering/Sales/Marketing with major technical strategy development and deployment 
• Provide marketing support for proposals and demonstrations to customers

Qualifications/Requirements

• Diplôme d’ingénieur ou de docteur en génie logicielle ou dans le domaine de l’Energie avec une forte composante optimisation (recherche opérationnelle) – Docteur ou Master 2 ; 
• A déjà eu au moins une première expérience professionnelle dans l’implémentation de solutions logicielles à forte composante optimisation ou dans le marché de l’Energie ; 
• De très bonnes connaissances en principes de modélisation mathématiques pour des problèmes d’optimisation (LP, MIP, QP) ; 
• De très bonnes connaissances en environnements de modélisation mathématiques (type AIMMS, AMPL, GAMS) ; 
• De bonnes connaissances dans le domaine du Marché de l’Energie (flow-based market coupling, balancing market) sont fortement appréciées ; 
• De bonnes connaissances électrotechniques (réseaux électriques) sont désirées ; 
• Une bonne maitrise de la programmation en C++ ; 
• Des connaissances en programmation Python et Java sont désirées ;  
• Doit avoir d’excellentes compétences de communication écrites et orales, et être à l’aise pour des présentations techniques de solutions et de design en face de clients (Anglais obligatoire et Français obligatoire).

• Power system engineering or software engineering with deep knowledge of the optimization (operational research) domain and good electrotechnical basis – PhD or Master degree; 
• Proven experience in the implementation of software solutions including optimization components or in Energy Market domain; 
• Good knowledge on mathematical modeling principles of optimization problems (LP, MIP, QP); 
• Good knowledge of mathematical modeling environments/tools (AIMMS, AMPL, GAMS); 
• Good knowledge of the energy market domain (flow-based market coupling, balancing market) strongly appreciated; 
• Good business knowledge of Power Systems applications for Electrical Network management; 
• Good C++ programming skills; 
• Desired programming skills on Python, Java; 
• Desirable to have worked continuous integration and development environment (Agile, Github …); 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and must be comfortable presenting technical design and technical solutions to clients/customers (English mandatory, French highly appreciated); 
• Ability to contribute in pre-sales/tendering phases through demo / presentation (users conferences, workshop, …);
