Role Summary/Purpose

The Analytics Engineering Specialist will be responsible for delivering new, commercially re-usable analytics solutions to expand industry coverage, application capabilities to support the digital product development of Operations performance Management. This role addresses complex problems by developing and deploying robust statistical, machine learning analysis and AI based solutions deriving new insights from large datasets.
Essential Responsibilities

As a Analytics Engineering Specialist, for GE Power Digital’s Operations Performance Management (OPM) Product line, you must have a good understanding of industrial power equipment, blocks & plant – operations and ways to digitally monitor assess its performance and assess how to optimally schedule the plant operations for better KPIs and customer outcomes. Operations performance management is an integrated suite that spans from the edge to the cloud to provide Key Performance Indicator (KPI) focused decision support, analytics-based advisors, and closed-loop control over desired outcomes to multiple levels of the customer’s organization to drive more productivity and revenue from the fleet with clear insight into risk, cost, and life.

• Work on a team of Analytics Engineers and Data Scientists who analyze equipment operation through the thermal analysis of cycle, equipment operation and real-time sensor data

• Deliver proactive recommendations defined by analyzing internal plant data, historic operational data, or external information to increase efficiency, availability, or lower emissions or enhancing plant flexibility.

• Lead accelerated NPI development of physics aided AI and Machine Learning driven software solutions for OPM, Power digital product suite.

• Demonstrate technical leadership in building foundation for AI and Machine Learning for power plant operations & scheduling

• Engage key technical & subject matter experts (SMEs) across the business for knowledge capture into the solutions. And work along Product Management, Software Engineering and UX Design teams.

• Apply a structured process to design and build new analytic packages. Ability to review technical documents like plant H&MB diagrams, & plant P&IDs.

• Creation of derivative analytics for variants of known equipment, incorporation of field feedback to improve the performance and actionability of the analytics, maintaining the Analytic library and catalogue

• Gather end-user (Internal and External)/customer requirements and feedback and support product engineering in development of new generations of OPM software solution.

• Foster an environment that encourages innovation, creative risk taking, speed and agility. Collaborate across Power and Digital businesses to build differentiated solutions that fit the design and future of this product
Qualifications/Requirements

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)
• A minimum of 0-2 years of professional experience in data analytics or performance engineering domain.
• Ability to apply theoretical or experiential knowledge on machine learning to solve industrial problems
• Experience in developing machine learning packages with modern programming languages e.g. Python, R, MATLAB etc.
Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:
• Understanding of industrial equipment and process operations, especially in the areas of powerplant, and process control.
• Knowledge and experience using Analytics Software Packages like Python, JMP etc. Programming experience with open source scripting and other data analysis packages

• Strong Customer mindset and ability to understand commercial and product strategy
• Demonstrates awareness of important current trends (economic, political, environmental, regulatory, etc.) affecting the industries that GE Power Digital operates in.

• Experience working effectively on multiple outcome-focused commercial solutions simultaneously

• Proactively engages with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and design solutions using critical thinking and analytics skills and best practices by actively incorporating input from various sources
