Storage & Operations Specialist

 

Specialist for ISM SSO Storage Operations is responsible for all operational duties involved in maintaining stability of all storage devices and the data integrity by way of doing daily, weekly and monthly proactive tasks as well as continued housekeeping and maintenance activities. The role also demands the continued monitoring and restoring of all backups, the tape handling and the resolving of any associated incidents. This position requires in-depth knowledge of the firm's complex Storage and DPS infrastructure environment as well as an excellent knowledge of working in across border environment in high performance teams.

Key responsibilities:

 

·  Storage Management (VNX,VMAX,ISILON,UNITY,XtremIo,Netapp,Dell Compellent,3Par)
·  Managing capacity of storage and SAN fabric
·  Installation and configuration of SAN storage controllers, installation of fiber channel connectivity to new storage box, and physical setup of new storage box
·  Adding and removing disks, disk group management, LUN management, LUN provisioning and presentation to hosts
·  Planning and performing firmware upgrade on HBA, storage frames and fabric switches
·  Perform storage monitoring and performance management
·  SAN management using SanScreen and other native tools
·  Proactive monitoring and troubleshooting, problem determination and resolution
·  Data migration and replication
·  NAS storage management
·  NAS volume setup, configuration and presentation to hosts
·  NAS head upgrade planning and execution
·  Storage upgrade
·  NAS LUN and Qtree management
·  Data ontap management
·  Snap mirroring setup and management
·  NAS NDMP backup setup and management Backup Administration
·  Installation and setup of NetBackup master servers and LAN media servers
·  Managing capacity of NetBackup infrastructure
·  Setup of drives in SSO
·  Setup of tape volume pools
·  Installation and management of ACSLS
·  Creating and deploying backup policies
·  Creating and managing daily catalog backups for disaster recovery
·  Manage tape encryption using Decru
·  Manage scripts to support global operations and scheduling
·  Troubleshoot backup issues and problem resolution
·  NetBackup upgrade and release management
·  VTL setup and management
·  Data deduplication setup and management
·  Vplex Management
·  Isilon Management
·  Unity Array expertise

·  SRDF proficiency.

Technical Skills

·   
·  Knowledge of NetApp NAS and SAN storage including expertise in snap shots and snap mirroring
·  Knowledge of EMC storage product line (Clariion, Centera, etc.)
·  Symantec NetBackup skills with version 6.0/6.5 on Windows, Unix and Linux platforms, utilizing ACSLS in an enterprise Master and Media server environment using SSO
·  Monitoring – As part of proactive incident avoidance should be able to monitor and analyze System Logs for issues, changes and alerts. Should be familiar with setting up Performance Analyzer for XPs, ISEE and HP SIM. Knowledge of interfacing all this with OpenView is a plus
·  Knowledge of VTL and Data Deduplication products – NetApp VTL solution
·  Strong troubleshooting skills for both SAN and NetBackup technology •          
·  NetApp Decru encryption devices - setup and troubleshooting
·  EMC SRDF Troubleshooting skills and Timefinder SNAP.

Qualifications:

·  Degree at university level
·  English language skills - excellent written and verbal communication
·  3+ years of experience in various aspects of technology infrastructure management and operations
·  Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
·  Sound judgment and analytical ability
·  Strong documentation skills – MS Word, Excel, Projects and Visio
·  The ability to work effectively with clients, management and staff members
·  Experience in maintaining mission critical production environment in large data centers
·  Strong working knowledge in ITIL Incident Management
·  Flexibility to work 24/7 including Weekend
