Position Description
CGI Federal has an immediate opening for a Data Architect to work in our Fairfax or Manassas Office. The ATIS Data Architect is a key member of the Program Team. He/she is an individual capable of designing and developing architecture framework capabilities to ensure a technical runway so that development momentum is not delayed. The ATIS Data Architect has strong collaborative skills with a technologists thinking who can work and communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders to continually ensure the product is of the highest quality. The ATIS Data Architect will move fluidly between the legacy and next generation applications, providing technical expertise to all teams and products in an Agile environment.

Your future duties and responsibilities
The CGI ATIS Data Architect will integrate with a partner support team for the design, architecture, and development of the project data model and database structure, including current and future internal and external interfaces.

The Data Architect provides a standard common business vocabulary, expresses strategic data requirements as referenced in the ATIS PWS, Program CONOPS, and authoritive documents, outlines high level integrated designs to meet these requirements, and aligns with ATIS Program Management strategy and related functional design architecture.

The Data Architect will set data architecture principles, create models of data that enable the implementation of the intended ATIS Functional Capability architecture and delivery Roadmap, create diagrams showing key data entities, and create an inventory of the data needed to implement the architectural vision.

The Data Architect uses his/her deep knowledge of technologies, development strategies, and data modeling best practices to support definition and delivery of the ATIS data model. This includes crafting overall technical vision and direction documents for large or complex initiatives, evaluating technologies and/or alternate approaches, working with stakeholders to estimate and design approaches, and supporting program-level trade-offs on priorities.

The ATIS Project consists of integrating existing systems to support the overall training program. The Data Architect will work with the CGI Functional Developers and partner development team members in creating the evolving data model that supports the program.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
A Bachelor's and 5 years’ experience is required for this role. Additional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree requirement.
• Due to the nature of this government contract, US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required.
• 3+ years of experience in Data Modeling and Database Architecture.
• 5+ years of experience Oracle experience.
• 5+ years of relational database experience.
• 5+ years of experience writing relational database queries for stored procedures, query optimization and performance tuning.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements.
• Ability to meet or exceed business goals and objectives, while fostering a team atmosphere.

Key skills of the ATIS Data Architect
Depth in data modeling and database design: The effective data architect is sound across all phases of data modeling, from conceptualization to database optimization. In his/her experience this skill extends to SQL development and database administration.
Ability to conceive and portray the big data picture: The Data Architect maps the systems and interfaces used to manage data, sets standards for data management, analyzes current state and conceives desired future state, and conceives projects needed to close the gap between current state and future goals.
Foundation in systems development: The Data Architect should understand the system development life cycle; software project management approaches; and requirements, design, and test techniques. The Data Architect is asked to conceptualize and influence application and interface projects, and therefore must understand what advice to give and where to plug in to steer toward desirable outcomes.
Breadth in established and emerging data technologies: In addition to depth in established data management and reporting technologies, Data Architect is either experienced or conversant in emerging tools like columnar and NoSQL databases, predictive analytics, data visualization, and unstructured data; and understands them sufficiently to guide the organization in understanding and adopting them.

Desired Qualifications:
• Knowledge and understanding of application lifecycle, from design and development to testing, implementation and production support.
• Knowledge and understanding of project management methodologies: development, testing, tools, and techniques, a plus.
• Experience with Tableau a plus.
• Experience with ETL tools a plus.
• Experience communicating trends and impacts.
