EY’s People Advisory Services – Reward Practice is one of the leading providers of professional and actuarial services, specializing in pension, employee benefits, and human resources issues.  Our actuarial team provides consulting services on all aspects of pension plans for plan sponsors, including valuation, funding strategy, financial reporting, administration and compliance. EY applies actuarial concepts to the areas of financial reporting, internal audit, mergers and acquisitions, and benefits consulting support.  Our actuarial team provides both internal expertise to our offices nation-wide and creative, innovative solutions to our external Canadian and global clients to allow them to confidently make key HR-related decisions to improve their business operations.

 

The opportunity


As an Actuarial Consultant, you will be a part of our People Advisory Services (PAS) – Reward practice.  You will help clients address compensation, benefit, pension and executive compensation issues. You will be a part of multi-disciplinary integrated team of actuaries, human resource, compensation and tax professionals, providing specialized services in your specialty area.

Your key responsibilities

As a consultant, you will join our pension and actuarial team.  You will work on technical aspects of actuarial engagements while ensuring client needs are met. This professional will apply project management expertise and technical and professional knowledge to ensure that the quality of engagement work products are of the highest quality.

 

Skills and attributes for success

·  Support for actuarial engagements relating to pension audit support, mergers and acquisitions, pension valuation work and other pension advisory services.
·  Participate in the overall and day-to-day technical and business aspects of client projects to ensure the quality of engagement work products, solutions, and deliverables for clients.
·  Identify, define, develop and implement techniques to improve engagement productivity, increase efficiencies, mitigate risks, and address issues for clients. Contribute to the attainment of group and individual goals by sharing knowledge, identifying business opportunities and productivity and facilitating teamwork.
·  Identify opportunities for EYs actuarial and other services.

To qualify for the role you must have

·  up to 2 years of pension actuarial experience
·  previous accounting and/or valuation experience preferred
·  in progress of attaining ACIA / ASA
·  strong project management skills within a professional environment
·  excellent verbal and written communication skills
·  the flexibility to travel, when necessary

Ideally, you’ll also have

·  The ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic team-oriented environment
·  ability to share knowledge and motivate team as well as initiative to stay abreast of current trends and technical advancements
