Job description

Operating under the managerial authority of ENGIE Global Business Support (GBS), ENGIE Information and Technologies (ENGIE IT) is ENGIE’s information systems neuralgic center.

We produce IT services for the Group’s Business Units and functional lines in the following areas:

o  IT infrastructure: networks, work environment, data centers, security, communication, etc.

o  Research, development and application maintenance

o  Advice on organizing and managing business projects with a strong IT dimension.

In connection with the implementation of the industrial plan to develop shared service centers (SSCs) in France and Belgium, ENGIE IT SSC is looking for an:

 

Lead Infrastructure Architect (M/F)

One of the business activities of Business Support Information Systems

Position based in Brussels (Belgium)

 

Technical Architects are responsible for designing the technical architecture in a specific IS area and updating it in the medium and long term in response to business needs and services offered from ENGIE IT catalogue. They strive to find the best compromise between:

o  The resources of the existing infrastructure

o  Alignment with the reference framework in which the Information Landscape is integrated

o  IS performance (e.g. scalability, maintainability, operability, reusability, costs)

They ensure that all IT resources and their upgrades are consistent (hardware, applications, databases, networks, middleware, operating systems). They make every effort to meet the required level of service and guarantee security.

Additionally, Lead Architects functionally manage a pool of Technical Architects by:

 

·  Meeting Customer representatives on regular basis to detect future needs and probe quality of works delivered by her/his team
·  Nurturing innovation spirit
·  Managing team workload by assigning new requests and follow them up

 

 

 

 

Main activities

 

·  Conceptualizing:

 

·     Producing technical architecture detailed designs

·     Aligning technical architecture with the Group IT Department and ENGIE IT’s standards

·     Contributing to the industrialization, streamlining and urbanization of technical services

·      Complying with the architectural practices in effect while contributing to knowledge management and enrichment of the architecture framework

·      Verifying and analyzing the technical impact of new solutions, consistency and the performance of technical architecture

·      Measuring the economic and financial effects of these solutions

·      Applying ENGIE IT’s project management methodology

·      Defining the technical architecture roadmap to meet the challenges of handling obsolescence, security, functional needs and resource optimization

·      Developing control over application architecture and its assimilation into technical architecture

·      Maintaining a technology watch over major market players

·      Contributing to service capacity planning

 

·  Recommending and/or advising

 

·      For any new project or new technology, teaming up with the Application Architect and the experts to assess the impact on existing or forecast architecture and recommend technical choices that ensure the upgrade’s consistency and performance

·     Helping to draw up and update technical standards

·     Advising the functional area’s Information System Architect on the use of ENGIE IT services

·     Offering customer solution improvements

·     Putting forward suggestions for defining ENGIE IT’s technical policy and proposing innovative solutions

·     Arguing in favor of the proposed architecture in the Architecture validation Committee

 

·  Communicating

 

·     Working in a team with experts and project managers

·     Promoting the technical architecture to others Teams (Engie-IT or Customers)

·     Participating in the architect community by making pertinent suggestions and publications

·     Working in an International environment (NL FR EN)

·     Whiling to travel to ENGIE HQ on regular basis

 

 

Skills

 o  Ability to define realistic and pragmatic IT architecture to support IS and business requirements in complex environments

o  Experience in IT project management in large-scale environments

o  Knowledge of service delivery management concepts

o  Strong ability in architecture modelling and drawing

o  Aptitude for writing structured technical documentation

o  Flair for explaining technical topics to non-technical people, strong communication ability

o  Open-mindedness, customer-oriented attitude, dedication to find cost-effective solutions

o  Ability to challenge the technical solutions put forward by the subject matter experts

o  Nurture quality excellence mindset

o  Fast learner on new technologies

Technical knowledge

 Strong general knowledge of IT covering the following technical fields:

o  Public cloud (AWS / Azure) certification or proven experience

o  Networks (network segmentation, firewall/routers)

o  Identity and account management

o  IT security best practices and data protection (GDPR, disaster recovery plan, DICT)

o  Computer and server hardware, operating systems, classical middleware (Oracle, MS-SQL, SAP, Postgre, Dockker, etc…)

o  Infrastructure virtualization and consolidation

o  Infrastructure tooling (backup/monitoring, scripting and task automation)

o  Methodology (ArchiMate, ITIL, project management waterfall/agile)
