Job description

ENGIE are recruiting for a SHEQ Operational Health & Safety Advisor to be based in London and South. This is a permanent full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary.


Main Responsibilities:

·  Maintain Safety Health Environmental and Quality systems and Regulatory compliance in Engie UK, Urban Energy Operations through regular site inspections and auditing.
·  Provide mentoring/ coaching support and independent advice and recommendations to Engie UK, Urban Energy Operations managers, operatives and monitor contractors
·  Drive the delivery of a safety health environmental and quality management systems focus defined by the Engie UK, Energy Solutions, Urban Energy, Head of SHEQ
Assist in the planning, communicating and actioning of the SHEQ function – to ensure industry leading SHEQ policies, procedures and culture is embraced within Engie UK, Energy Solutions, Urban Energy Operations.  

Ensure Engie UK Energy Solutions, Urban Energy maintains compliance with ENGIE systems and its certification to the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Standards.

Ensure Engie UK Energy Solutions, Urban Energy Operations staff are adequately trained in all SHEQ Management Systems including, but not limited to:

·  Safe Systems of Work (SSoW)
·  Permit to Work
·  Risk Assessment
·  Method statement
·  Lock Off & Tag Out System
·  DSEAR, LOLER, PUWER, REACH, CoSHH, COMAH
·  CDM notifications, site safety plans, waste management plans
Ensure Investigations are completed for all LTI, RIDDOR, Quality and Environmental excursions and that root cause is defined with recommendations to prevent reoccurrence 

Attend Engie UK Energy Solutions, Urban Energy Operations and, from time to time, Projects, Management Meetings

Attend as requested important Customer and Contractor H&S Meetings.

Business Development:

·  Provide PQQ Information
·  Assist the Business Projects Team with potential new customers, identifying hazards and mitigating risks The Urban Energy H&S Advisor’s role plays a direct part in achieving good site health and safety performance and directly contributes to high levels of health and safety performance. Well run operational sites operate at lower costs than badly run sites which tend to be subjected to fines and litigation costs for breaches of health and safety laws.

This role requires an individual with good technical Mechanical and Engineering health and safety capability, (primarily,) with an ability to resolve site technical problems without needing to immediately escalate them. The individual in this role will be a professional and therefore will recognise the time when their capability has been reached and the matter forwarded to a more senior role; in this case, the Head of SHEQ for Engie UK Energy Solutions, Urban Energy.

This role will operate in high hazard, energy environments and ideally requires an individual with substantial Mechanical and Engineering/ Boiler operations experience, qualified in an Engineering Batchelor’s Degree, HND/ HNC or equivalent. The selected candidate will possess a NEBOSH Diploma in Health and Safety Management as a minimum and relevant Engineering site related qualifications eg passport schemes, boiler, pressure systems, etc. qualifications. Qualifications and / or experience in Environmental and Quality management systems and / or electrical or pressure systems engineering would be advantageous.
