Engineer in Radiation Protection
 

The working environment

The Radwaste and Radiation Protection Group (N53C), which is part of the Radwaste and Decommissioning Department is involved in many nuclear projects related to radiation protection and radiological characterization.

 
Your function

 
The mission is to participate in the preparation of bids, studies and projects regarding:

·  Radiation protection issues by:
·  Performing radiation shielding calculations and the ALARA follow-up of nuclear installations, including interventions on site when needed
·  Gaining knowledge about radiation protection codes
·  Specifying, ordering and commissioning radiation monitoring systems
·  Radiological characterization issues by:
·  Gaining knowledge about codes developed for the radiological characterization of operational and dismantling waste
·  Developing methodologies for the radiological characterization of waste
·  Assisting Doel and Tihange nuclear power plants to answer ONDRAF/NIRAS queries about waste removal forms

·  Civil or industrial engineer, preferably specialized in physics, with a strong will to develop your technical expertise;
·  2-5 years of experience in the nuclear industry and particularly in radiation protection is expected;
·  Mother tongue is Dutch or French and fluent in English;
·  Able to draw up reports in Dutch or French and in English;
·  Familiar with the MS-Office software and radiation simulation codes;
·  Autonomous and you like teamwork;
·  Available and open to gain new competencies as well as to share them.
