Global Energy Management (GEM)  is one of ENGIE’s Business Units. We deliver services in supply and logistics management, asset management, risk management, market access management, while contributing to the market understanding, design and efficiency and developing market solutions to accelerate the energy transition.

GEM manages one of the largest and most diversified energy portfolios in Europe, including electricity, natural gas, bulk commodities and environmental products.

Context:

The market access services (MAS) team at Global Energy Management (GEM) is in charge of developing real time commodity markets connectors to obtain real time market data and sending low latency market orders. The team currently provides these data to various teams inside GEM pour a multitude of uses (automatic trading, trading surveillance, forex conversion..). Currently the team treats large amounts of daily market data, and has a basic Big Data solution in place for archiving and obtaining past data.

Role:

The team is looking for an intern with Big Data skills to improve the existing Big Data model while simultaneously adding new features to cater to support team needs.

Duration : 6 month

Starting date : January / February 2020

Main Activities:

 

· 
·  Reading industry standard documentation to be aware of latest technological advances in the field
·  Understand existing in-house Big Data architecture with the help of Big Data Architects
·  Working on a technical solution for Big Data Ingestion
·  Automatizing continuous delivery of technical solution
·  Providing Data Science analysis on collected Big Data
·  Creating Wiki based documentation for developers and analysts

Courbevoie, ENGIE T1

Education and professional background:

Master Degree in IT

Hard skills:

As part of the internship, the intern will be confronted with improving existing prediction algorithms using data science based on the existing data model. Candidates are required to have fluent knowledge of existing Big Data solutions like Amazon S3, Spark, Hadoop. Knowledge of C# would be a real plus. Familiarity with Jupyter Notebooks would be welcome.

Soft skills:

Candidates should be open to discussion,  curious to discover new big data solutions and eager to propose elegant machine learning based solutions.

Languages:

Good level of english (writing, speaking)
